Pros
Good to learn things and start a career ahead of others
Good internal opportunities
Good pay for juniors
Great CE and fringe benefits
Cons
You have to fit into the mould, if you don't you are out
Obsession with working late and no life balance
Advice to Senior Management
All work and no play makes Jack a dull man...
Pros
Good colleagues, good customers. Real effort to position strategically and forward-thinking from the top management. Interest for technology in the TS branch, with the added benefit of a Consulting branch bringing an interesting perspective (yes they are snobs but in practice it works well).
Most of the managers are OK, not (too) political, quite sincere and helpful.
You can progress at Capgemini without falling in the "up-or-out" trap of some other big consultancies.
The company size allows access to a variety of resources, positions, technologies, but you have to get there on your own.
Cons
Short-termism. Puzzling management reorganisations and choices of leadership.
Some cases of very cynical managers.
Advice to Senior Management
Demand honesty from your managers; open channel for employees to report when they feel tramped on.
Pros
It's a great consulting firm with a good balance between personnal and professionna life. Due to his big size, a lot of knowledge can be shared during trainings and possibilities exist to be transfered in different countries.
Cons
The buy out of Ernst and Young was difficult adn the brand of Capgemini Consulting is the beeing launched in the US. There's still a lot of work to do to be a global firm. The position in the management consulting and the name of Capgemini sometimes lead people to misunderstant our real value
Advice to Senior Management
Go global and try to be a little more strategy oriented
Pros
Great place to start a career, you can learn quickly . I think for beginners who want to learn very quickly and are ready to do long working day, go ahead. There are many projects for fortune 500 companies and contrary to what others might say i found it very easy to go from projects to projects (it highly depends on how much you cost to the project). You can have easy access to knowledge and meet some experts.
Negotiate well your salary because it's unlikely to be increased.
Cons
Pressure, hard to have a well balanced private life, high turnover. Managers have a very short term view put employees under high pressure to deliver on time. I have worked on projects where everybody on the team left except 1 or 2 guy (including me) because they were completly burned-out. Many pretend to leave because they can earn more in other companies but i am not convinced that's the only reason.
Advice to Senior Management
Have a more long term view
Pros
career track record, brand name, job security
Cons
could not care less about employee career perspective
management sucks, lobby politics reigns supreme
limited upside (stock options)
Advice to Senior Management
stop treating engineers like meat
invest in training and employee retention
increase employee profit sharing schemes
fire inept managers
