    Pros

Gives you a lot of freedom to choose what you want to learn from a massive online education library and other things as long as you can build the business case for it.

    Cons

The company is big and each practice runs in silos so there is little collaboration between practices. Not sure about other practices, but there is a lack of direction within the practice I'm in and you receive conflicting directions from senior management, which makes your job very difficult.

    Advice to Management

Set clear directions and make teams collaborate better.

I worked at Capgemini (More than a year)

    Pros

Freedom to wok with Client and Architects

    Cons

Poor Offshore support. No Management focus on delivery. Some of the managers had no clue of the environment they are supposed to manage and believed in staying 'on the fence' most of the times.

I worked at Capgemini full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexibility in work environment, great colleagues with very little politics and a culture that fosters how you achieve your results - not just the results you achieved. Compensation and benefits were good and they provided profit sharing which increased the 401K.

    Cons

Some what difficult to navigate the various organizations and leverage know-how developed at various clients. Career paths were limited and targets for the levels were not aligned to the types of positions held with clients.

    Advice to Management

Provide a better career paths and performance targets that align to the types of roles held at a client.

    I worked at Capgemini full-time

    Pros

Exposure to lots of projects, great mentors, varied roles and industries. Learned a heck of a lot. Polished my presentation and facilitation skills

    Cons

Extensive travel for long term consulting projects can put a strain on personal life and family. Lots of selling and self promotion required

    Advice to Management

Make sure there is meaningful work, even for the more junior people. Allow a lot of client interaction and don't be scared that a consultant might be hired by a client.

    Pros

Outsourcing and consulting is a tough business. These folks gave me many opportunities to learn a tremendous amount about leading global OS engagements.

    Cons

Outsourcing and consulting is a tough business. Capgemini competes with larger US HQ'd players, but they have some sharp folks.

    Advice to Management

Continue being patient with ambitious folks like I was, providing us with room to make mistakes here and there.

I have been working at Capgemini full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Work from home program. Bonus structure works out well for Executive management. Employee profit sharing program. Company match on the 401k program

    Cons

No merit raises, all raises are promotion based. Work life balance leans too far toward the work side of the equation. Bonus structure is horrible for non executive management.

    Advice to Management

Seriously reconsider your bonus program structure and even the field a little between the executive percentages and the non executives.
