I worked at Capgemini full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Compensation and benefits are market related.

    Cons

Very little in promotion or increases in 7 years; Very little support in transitioning when we lost a big account - I was told that one should not expect a job in a technical field to last this long anyway; Don't expect respect when trying to balance your family and work life

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Come down to the factory floor sometimes. Show the loyalty and respect that you want from the assembly line.

    Pros

If you can stand the awful people they have in VP leadership positions then the benefits are decent.

    Cons

Too many to mention but they treat employees like assets instead of human beings. If you spend longer than 30 days on the bench then your next move is likely to be let go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You have some really poor managers at the VP level who treat their staff extremely poorly, the Atlanta location is a prime example.

    Pros

Great company to learn new technologies, work with bright people from various backgrounds, training opportunities are good, projects are good as long as travel is not a problem

    Cons

Work life balance is not the best, upward career management needs improvement, travel could be a problem in the long run, so its good to be aware that its important to be a road warrior

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With new technologies like video chat, it would be good to look at changing the 3-4-5 consulting workweek.

    Pros

The culture is open and friendly which makes it easy to assimilate. It is not overly competitive like many of the other big firms. You are free to choose and stay in the level you want to be in without too much pressure.

    Cons

Because of the flexibility, your career path is solely dependent on you and your ability to build a network. Performance management is poor. Leadership at the highest levels is weak at best. When you choose to leave they literally kick you out and when you're brought in, be careful about the level they offer you. They short you and consequently, your salary will be lower than you might expect. They do not budge.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer direction to your employees, improve communication, offer more to high performers and take employee satisfaction, retention seriously. Treat those who choose to leave, better. Maybe some of us would consider using your services in the future. Think about that. Your reputation now precedes you. I know several people who have had the same experience as I did.

I have been working at Capgemini full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Worked with some good people, but there are many pockets of below average. Work life balance is ok and there is some flexibility.

    Cons

The annual "round-table" review process is very political and it's about who you know. Every year, there is a predetermined number of high performers that will get rewarded with bonuses and raises. It doesn't matter if all 150,000 employees were the highest performers and brought in $100 M each. because of the predetermined number that can get a bonus and a raise, most come out as "meets expectations" (a 3 on scale of 1-5) and you will get no raise or bonus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Break off from the French part of the main company because they could care less about concerns about North American employees
