Pros
Lots of opportunities, you can learn all aspects of a project, the team work aspect is great, the vast types of technology that are used make it easy to learn a lot.
Cons
The company is huge so seeing a direct impact of your work can be difficult. sometimes the work life balance is tough to manage.
Advice to Senior Management
It's a great place to work but it would be great to have more Capgemini events or corporate meetings so that people who are constantly out on a project and travelling can get a tie into the company.
Pros
Average Salary and good Benefits package
Can work from home if needed
Cons
Difficult to get promotions
Hard to take time off when working on a demanding project
Uncertainty about work when a project is over.
Advice to Senior Management
Think of better ways to retain employees
Promote employees that show interest in doing new things.
Pros
Good team focus
International oppurtunities
Knowledge management
Cons
Too focused on systems integration
Advice to Senior Management
Push more too strategic services rather than systems
Pros
They are concerned with revenue generation and keeping you employed on there projects. Also, they support a Monday-Thursday work week for traveling consultants.
Cons
Traveling weekly because most projects are in various locations.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the good work.
Pros
401k matching after year 1 and 2
flexible scheduling
Cons
Discrepancies in simple benefit info between HR and Recruiting
HR rarely available & often deferred to other HR members who were either on vacation or not available to assist
On the account I was posted, Senior management couldn't implement solutions to problems
Peer departments didn't seem concerned to help with escalations on issues they were responsible for
When the client decided to seek a new outsourcing vendor, service levels dropped from poor to terrible. Cap obviously wasn't concerned about the recommendation that the client would give them when separating from a contract early.
Peer departments don't work with the same sense of urgency
Advice to Senior Management
There's so much that can be offered to leadership at Cap, but honestly do they really care? Not trying to sound negative, but I'm really shocked at the service they gave this client. As with many companies today, the technical employees know the most of what is going on while the managers know a broader area. Capgemini would be prudent in having employee surveys which have space for additional info to be provided for feedback.
Pros
-Managers respect work life balance and getting time off is never an issue if planned well
-Encourages internal employee driven initiatives
-It's "Collaborative Business Experience" is mostly true both within engagement teams and with clients
Cons
Performance management is inconsistent and poor. You tend to get promoted or receive better ratings if on a large project.
Company has good expertise in project management, but non-IT business knowlege is very limited. Consequently, company is slow to pick up on new business trends/requirements such as Social Media or Social CRM. More and more, company seems to be getting only traditional vanilla IT projects with little innovation opportunity or challenge.
Employee pool is average, very few folks from ivy league or top 20 universities.
Utilization is the highest priority and consultants can be thrown to any project with no regard to career planning
Advice to Senior Management
To get on the cutting edge and be a leader, invest whole-heartedly in pursuing thought leadership
Pros
Work culture is excellent.People are great to work with. Client Relationships are great. Overall I have been extremely satisfied.
Cons
Dallas,TX has very limited Capgemini Clientelle. If the intent is to be local with Capgemini US, if you're in J2EE, Dallas may not be a great option.
Pros
Variety of innovative projects to work on. Smart people to work with.
Cons
Travel up to 4 days a week for many months at a time.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide a clearer picture of where the NA operations are going.
Pros
Plenty oppurtunity to learn new technologies.
Cons
Hectic work culture , Removes employees/contractors on the same day by saying "Today is your Last Day" even though the reason is their inefficient budget planning .
Advice to Senior Management
Consider the career of employees/contractor who comes to work at Capgemini , Just imagine how you feel if someone leaves you the same day without giving any Notice period in the crucial times .
You need to care about employees/Contractors . I was completely surprised you removed someone without giving even a single day notice.
Please teach your managers how to plan properly Budget , even if they are incapable of planning they shouldn't make Employees/Contractors as Scape Goats.
This looks completely unprofessional , I can't imagine a company like Capgemini is doing this , I think we can now call Capgemini as pure "Body Shopping" institute rather than a Software services provider.
Pros
Ability to move locations within US
Cons
Sales culture - expected to cross sell even in non sales roles
