Pros
-- Opportunities
-- Competetive compensation
-- Good global delivery model
Cons
-- Limited communications especially if one is at the client location
-- Not willing to accept smaller work orders
-- Not enough penetration in the investment banking domain in the US
-- Limited participation in terms of events/trainings especially when one is at the clients place that does not have a formal Capgemini office.
Advice to Senior Management
It will be great if they can kindly work on the above mentioned cons.
Pros
Great technical staff to work with. Very competent technical teams.
Cons
Poor sr. mgmt that produces contracts that are very difficult to meet. Upper management do not care about the people who do really great work.
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize the great workers that you have in the company. Recognize that moving all jobs to India means losing clients due to lack of quality work ethics.
Pros
Great place to work, build a career, work with great people, gain international experience, grow big accounts, work with solid partners
Cons
You must roll up your sleeves and search to identify pockets of talent to assist on project effort but once found they are very good
Advice to Senior Management
Commit the time needed to growing solid accounts and continue to build differentiated capabilities as they are key to success at clients
Pros
Work culture and management are good
Cons
Too many consulting companies at one place
Advice to Senior Management
Keep track of the resources, you can save a lot of money
Pros
Competitive salary out of college
Supportive staff
Tons of learning tools
Laid back
Importance placed on work life balance
Cons
Not a well known brand
Limited client
Career growth dependent on billable work
Segmented into self contained business units
Advice to Senior Management
Concentrate on growing new hires into better consultants.
Pros
Very good people and my manage was some of the best I have had. Career paths are open if you will press in!
Cons
Long hours at times, but that is to be expected from and outsourcing groupl
Advice to Senior Management
Connect with your people more.
Pros
Diverse workforce with excellent knowledge artifacts from global, leading practice experts. If you like to travel and are looking to immerse yourself in the culture, Capgemini is a good place to start your career.
Cons
Capgemini US is a shadow of the rest of the global Capgemini organization and it's hard not to feel like the homely, unloved little brother no one talks about. Capgemini dominates many of the European markets in which it competes, lavishing perks upon those employees, while Capgemini US is at best a middling consultancy known for SAP installations. These are perceptions management is well aware of and yet is largely unable to meaningfully address. The best talent at Capgemini moves on eventually to the bigger firms for more money and better recognition while the remaining employees are shuffled around waiting to see if the latest restructuring will change the status quo. If you have an offer with another leading consulting firm, there is no compelling reason to pick Capgemini.
Advice to Senior Management
Communication tends to be one-way within the organization, from the top down. Any attention paid to feedback from lower-level employees is collected but not really heard or acted upon, and I would know because I was in the room when a lot of the input was dismissed.
In addition, training of employee skills is minimal. You are expected to have the skills to make it to the next level or they will find someone externally who does. All employees have training plans but when the money runs out for training or the client prefers that you work instead of attending, the plan gets thrown under the bus. Training opportunities are listed as a major area of concern during every year's employee survey, but nothing ever changes.
Pros
Not very hierarchical, good collabarative environment
Cons
Not enough Domain expertise. Lot of bogus roles in the CEO's core committee. Lot of wastage due to BU structures
Advice to Senior Management
Get the bogus folks out
Pros
Flexibility, Quality Focused, Big but personable.
Broad spectrum of service offerings, and industry segments within Business Unit, and across Business Units.
Cons
Changing dynamics of industry are difficult to react to quickly.
Not given enough credit for Business Consulting, reputation as effective IT Consulting only.
Advice to Senior Management
Close the gap between IT and Business Consulting. Distinquish between offshore pure play business, and traditional project oriented work...........rather than mix and match.
Pros
Great thought leadership, increased focus on employees and hopefully a positive change in mid-level leadership in North America. Hopefully it will lead to a more positive experience in the near future.
Cons
Individual performance review process is a joke and it not at all backed by facts or figures. If you have been with the organization for 5 years or more you know what i am talking about. Salary commensurate with experience is unheard of. It all depends on how you negotiate your way into the organization. little to no pay raises in last 4 years.
Advice to Senior Management
take care of your people, otherwise all of your long timers in the organization will move on!
