Disappointing experience, a lot of obstacles to overcome

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Washington, DC

I have been working at Capgemini full-time for more than 3 years

ProsSalary, remote work, ability to learn new solutions

ConsCEO position is a revolving door, "step child" of Parent company, ineffective leadership (VP and principal levels are not held accountable), unfair performance review (forced rankings), no marketing or training budget, internal processes are poor, promotion based on bringing in new business ($$$), over utilized -- have to wear too many hats.

Advice to Senior ManagementOnce new CEO is hired, clean house of ineffective leaders. Establish internal processes and keep people accountable. Invest in the people (training), marketing, and execute on strategy. Change performance review process.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

You must be willing to relocate with very little notice

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Charlotte, NC

I have been working at Capgemini full-time for more than a year

ProsCompared to other places, being on the bench is not all that bad.

Benefits are pretty good

ConsConstant relocation is expected. I have seen multiple people relocate for a 2 year project, get rolled off after 2 weeks, and expected to relocate somewhere else with a one-week notice.

Minimal communication from management. Emails to HR rarely get responses.

Dishonesty. Many times I have heard sales promise prospective clients "Oh, we have dozens of people who are experts on XXXX", then panicked emails an hour later "I need everyone to start learning XXXX".

Very little job security. Many of the people I have worked with have been called into the office and never seen again.

Pay is well below average.

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunicate more. Don't promise prospects that no travel or relocation will be required, only to force relocation later.

Great place to start a career. Good place to specialize in a hot industry.

Manager (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at Capgemini full-time for more than 8 years

ProsOpen welcoming and smart colleagues. Great culture. Good bosses. Ample opportunities to grow if you do good work. Very flexible - can work out any arrangement (for school, for change of field, for promotion, raise, etc)

ConsCan be a bit of "we are not as good as Accenture" feeling

Advice to Senior ManagementRaise appreciation for Capgemini for what it is, not in comparison with other consultancies.

Very Professional and Committed to doing the best for their customers.

Senior Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at Capgemini full-time for more than 3 years

ProsCompetent staff, professional managers, good offerings in supply chain, strategic sorucing.

ConsNeeds a slightly better approach to balancing solutions for their clients; focus on the right solution for the client, and only then start discussing Business Process Outsourcing, off-shore relationships.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue the focus on the customer.

Where there are gaps in management, there are open ears.

Project Analyst (Current Employee)
Austin, TX

I have been working at Capgemini full-time for less than a year

ProsPeople in management may not be perfect (like anywhere else), but what I have found is that the leadership is more than willing to listen and learn from its employees.

Fun environment, great, genuine people.

Proactive and driven employees, you have control over your own career, lots of opportunities for travel.

ConsSalary could be better.

Travel could get taxing, but that is the consulting world. Some contracts require less travel, and management are open to your feedback/wishes on what your ideal situation.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't be afraid to communicate and give feedback before it is necessary/requested.

Worst Years of my Career

Senior Associate (Former Employee)
Detroit, MI

I worked at Capgemini full-time for more than 8 years

ProsDecent beginning pay, benefits, and PTO. Policy for paid medical leave is exceptional.

ConsBlatantly chauvenistic, monolithic and incapable of real progress, poor planning and decision making at all levels cost the company many accounts and therefore cost lost of individuals' their jobs, jobs are continually outsourced to India, do NOT come to work for this company if you are an administrative assistant, office manager, etc. You've been warned!

Advice to Senior ManagementWe all know your programs are a joke. Be honest; all that matters is making money for your stockholders. Stop lying to your staff. We see right through it. Just be matter-of-fact and quit acting like some forward-thinking, benevolent entity. Everyone who works for you knows the real deal already, so just stop.
