Pros
Very little office politics
Reward based solidly on performance not brown nosing
No old boys network, old school tie etc
Varied and stimulating work
Cons
Old fashioned, low quality office environment with frequent maintenance problems
Very sales focused culture which has its good points but also some downsides (lack of intellectual capital)
Lowish salaries
Advice to Senior Management
Not everyone needs to be a flashy, second hand car salesman - we need those quieter types with thorough market knowledge too.
Pros
Capita has a strong market capitalisation and is not afraid to back management financial in order to develop/grow smaller buisness units.
Cons
Demanding shareholders cause aggressive growth strategies in some saturated markets
Pros
Interesting projects & programmes
Varied work
Strong brand in Public Sector Outsourcing
Cons
Complete lack of integration across the business
Political in-fighting and blatant manouvering for advancement
Advancement based on internal relationships rather than competence
Advice to Senior Management
Massive amount of work required to try and integrate some of the business units and offerings to strengthen sales/growth opportunities
Pros
The opportunity for career development and personal growth if desired is significant, but you do need to own your own destiny.
Cons
No formal training, any personal development is driven by the individual.
Pros
stable and growing company
ready stream of work so no shortage of work
diversified portfolio of industry, expertise and technology
Cons
big company - looks at mainly profitability
Everything is in shape of business units so everyone is concerned about the growth in their business units
Advice to Senior Management
Look at making more opportunities available to people to be able to grow their careers and professional competency within capita

Career progress through disorganised growth is a plus.

Advice to Senior Management

Pros
work life balance is great
environment not cut-thorat like banks & top asset management houses
Cons
growth is compromised
pay is avg
no bonus
Advice to Senior Management
formalise business plans/procedures and growth strategy....growing too fast...
Pros
Small company environment
Young culture
Friendly people
Good location in town centre
Good for commuting too
Good to get FTSE 100 name on your CV
Cons
The pay is not very good, they pay as little as possible. Once you are in it is very hard to get a good payrise.
Favourites - only those who the management favour or are 'yes' men seem to get promoted.
If you want a change of career direction within the same company forget it - you are just a 'bum' on a seat.
Long hours due to presenteeism - even if you have nothing to do you are expected to stay late so that it makes your team leader look good.
Bonuses are not paid - even if you have earned it - they will find a way of wriggle out of paying it - all comes down to the MD.
Nepotism
Totally unqualified people have been put in senior positions due to their long tenure abilities.
