    Pros

The company benefits: retirement plan, investment in their funds, medical, dental, disability are hard to beat. I've worked for several employers and have yet to find a company that matches the benefits offered by the Capital Group at an affordable cost.

The managers are good about coaching employees on how to share ideas & their opinions in a positive, respectful manner. This has been a huge benefit for me both professionally and personally.

    Cons

Time off around holidays is almost impossible to get. For non-holiday time off, you have to notify the company at least 3 months in advance or you will most likely not be approved. While Capital offers to cover the cost of business-related degrees, there is not a benefit to earning one.

    Advice to Management

Recent advanced training has been accelerated due to business need. Try to give your employees more time to practice what they've learned after coming out of a classroom. This will benefit both the employee and the company more in the long run.

    Pros

Company sponsored retirement plan that contributes 15%; generous vacation, education benefits. Two annual bonuses, NAV purchases on American Funds mutual funds

    Cons

Painfully slow career development - in some instances, 10+ years before being placed in a supervisory position. Went on a hiring freeze from 2008-2011, but now that business has picked up since the Financial Crisis, mgmt is scrambling to keep up with hiring needs.

Historically deliberate in decision making, the organization has been making technological and operational "enhancements" at an increased pace over the last several years. Many of these updates have resulted in system interruptions and other issues that should have been caught in testing.

    Advice to Management

Many associates feel "stuck" in that promotions are few and far between. The career advancement initiatives (On the Grow, et al) are ineffective and in many instances a rouse for development.

Project management needs help. Too many similar projects taking place where data, results, findings, etc., can be leveraged from another group, yet each project seems to operate in its own silo.

    Pros

Lovely environment to work in. Coworkers are friendly and knowledgeable. Salary is ok for this area. Good parking. Gourmet café for employees. Green company

    Cons

More permanent positions should be available. 18 month contract resulting in me looking for permanent work once the contract expires.

    Advice to Management

Hire more for more permanent positions

    Pros

The pay is reasonable for the position, still have decent benefits and bonuses paid twice a year.

    Cons

There are too many team managers and senior managers for the number of employees they "supervise". There is no clear path/direction to actually advance in the company. There are lots of "opportunities" which do not develop into a promotion or a raise. The wonderful perks have gone away year by year. The bonuses are not rising as the company's profit is back on the rise. They are so far behind in technology, that it is now a mad rush to catch up and expect associates to embrace it and promote it.

    Advice to Management

You need fewer team managers and senior managers for the associates. There seem to be many "projects" that result in very few changes or improvements.

    Pros

Capital Group offers a great benefits package and places great value on work/life balance - they are progressive when it comes to employee satisfaction in these areas

    Cons

While they offer the great benefits, there does not seem to be a lot of room for advancement, from the ground up, within the company.

    Pros

    -Positive environment
    -Awesome benefits
    -Continuous development
    -Respect of all employees

    Cons

    -Lack of growth/advancement opportunities
-Tuition reimbursement program, but no recognition/opportunities after completing degree

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to those that are utilizing your tuition reimbursement program. All too often, associates leave after obtaining their degree due to lack of growth/advancement opportunities. Why pay for furthering education only to lose the highly performing employees to other employers that can reap the benefits....??

    Pros

Excellent initial and ongoing training; personable management style with open communication; great resources to assist in job performance; competitive salary, bonus and benefit packages; friendly atmosphere and culture.

    Cons

Recent downsizing (2009) is affecting the culture; Some positions are micro-managed; Associates are at capacity and sometimes feel overworked (understaffed).

    Advice to Management

Improve capacity standards in order for associates to develop themselves as well as provide better customer service; Allow associates to be a part of decision making process changes in order to improve the business.

    Pros

Good benefits, high ethical standards in terms of handling shareholder issues, overall friendly and cooperative associates

    Cons

Incompetent/ inexperienced management, hypocritial/contradictory actions from management - do not treat associates as equals (at times condescending)...and general boredom from sitting in a cubicle all day

    Advice to Management

Associates should not feel like they're under regular scrutiny and criticism (to keep them in line and obedient). Most of the hardworking associates do not receive recognition for their accomplishments, but managers always quick to point out errors.
Also - "Open door" policy is a joke. After you express concerns you feel like you're under a microscope.

    Pros

benefits are very good and the buildings are very well kept

    Cons

Sr managers are not allowed to manage people- they manage numbers - very micromanaging

    Advice to Management

do not be afraid to make decisions. seems as if they make group decisions so no one is accountable- they call this collobration. If associates do this, they are given feedback that they need more self confidence in their decision making process.
