I have been working at Capital Group

    Pros

This is a place where people have strong values and great integrity. I work here because I know I will never have to apologize for what my employer does - I can't say this about many other financial services companies. There is a thorough review process that is fair and enables flexible career paths.

    Cons

Traffic in Los Angeles can be a real drag!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to represent and uphold strong values.

I have been working at Capital Group

    Pros

In house cafeteria, pay well as a contractor.

    Cons

Company does not have any values. Manager like to hire they own people (Indian) Discrimination. They differentiate between contractor and fulltime employee, and will look down on you. I would not recommend anyone coming here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the bad practice of favoritism. Treat contractors as equal as associates.

I have been working at Capital Group as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

CG as a company is amazing.
    Great Campus.
    Money is decent.
Get to work on multiple platforms at the same time.

    Cons

    Not credit driven
    Intensive politics
    Finger pointer wins
All work will be dumped on you so Full timers roam around free.
    Micro management at its best.
    Unprofessional behavior.
Teaming up against one person one by one.
Always discussing people on their back.
The goal is "I" should rule and the work is not the focus.
No respect for team mates and very disrespectful environment. Screaming and shouting is normal, use of abusive language..!!

    Not worth it..!!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get down to grassroot level and see who is really working and who is not.!!

Good people overall, good culture, great pay. Lack of upward mobility, painful period of restructuring

I have been working at Capital Group full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Very little political back-stabbing.
Great compensation compared to its competitors
    Great learning tools available
    Good work-life balance
    Relaxed environment

    Cons

Decision-making is concentrated at the top

Very little upward mobility--IT is bringing outside folks, mostly from Accenture as managers. Since most of the new managers have not gone through a full life-cycle with support, it leads to unrealistic expectations. Further, most of the accenture folks come with an attitude built-in: they are arrogant to a 't' and have no problem showing it. It takes them two years to mellow and get out of that mode.

Don't expect "personal growth." Not there, won't be there for at least the next 5 years.

I have been working at Capital Group full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

As a private company, Capital Group can invest in it's employees and business for the long-term and it shows. In particular, the firm has a clear, consistent, long-term strategy. As a result, the environment is very collegial and supportive. Everyone works hard, but enjoys it. The interview process is long and arduous, but it results in a group of great colleagues.

    Cons

    I don't have any cons.

I have been working at Capital Group full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Time off is great, work life balance.
    Can leave early
Nice place to eat, plenty of budget for the department.
Great Senior Manager and director makes things go smooth

    Cons

Outsourcing is good for the bottom line.
I'd like to have had a chance to be considered for certain duties before its outsourced.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Great company, kind of in need of some new leadership up top. I'd like to see more associate positions and fewer lay offs and contractors replacing associates.

I have been working at Capital Group full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The company is very good at what they do and have a lot of excellent people working to accomplish their goals. Benefits are great and the work environment is second to none.

    Cons

The company is in the midst of some growing pains with regards to culture and identity. A lot of process and procedure is being dropped on the departments without much thought of affecting productivity. So most things now taken longer than they should to get to resolution.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember where you came from with regards to where you are going. People have invested in you for your culture and that culture is now dead.

I have been working at Capital Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The company benefits: retirement plan, investment in their funds, medical, dental, disability are hard to beat. I've worked for several employers and have yet to find a company that matches the benefits offered by the Capital Group at an affordable cost.

The managers are good about coaching employees on how to share ideas & their opinions in a positive, respectful manner. This has been a huge benefit for me both professionally and personally.

    Cons

Time off around holidays is almost impossible to get. For non-holiday time off, you have to notify the company at least 3 months in advance or you will most likely not be approved. While Capital offers to cover the cost of business-related degrees, there is not a benefit to earning one.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Recent advanced training has been accelerated due to business need. Try to give your employees more time to practice what they've learned after coming out of a classroom. This will benefit both the employee and the company more in the long run.
