Pros
Good location, beautiful campus, decent pay.
Cons
Too many hoops to jump through to get anything done.
Thinking outside of the box is allowed ONLY if you follow their rules (basically, you have no room to think outside of the box).
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of the redundant PM docs and start listening to your employees more. QA/Goverance group is too rigid; try not to crack the whip unnecessarily at every meeting.
Pros
Everything is fast and there are always a lot of changes. The management is forward looking and try new ideas all of the time that keep things exciting.
Cons
The change process is not always smooth. There can be a lot of craziness during transitional periods and even though there is a lot of communication from management it is not always complete.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire more people. There is a lot of turnover because of the high amount of contract workers that are there for more than a year. They end up leaving and take knowledge and understanding of process with them when they go.
Pros
work life balance, great campus, lots of perks for employees
Cons
no time or room for mistakes!
Pros
Great culture and a supportive management team
Cons
They do not promote higher education
Advice to Senior Management
Create a MBA track
Pros
The culture is awesome and the pay is competitive.
Cons
It gets crowded occasionally, but the company is working out the space issues.
Pros
- Benefits and pay are above average
- Surrounded by many smart people
Cons
- Can be political
- Consensus decision making style
- Performance management
Pros
The best reasons to work for capital one is the Incentives money and flexible schedules. money money money money money
Cons
Capital one's downsides are they lie about the training schedule for part time, they aren't too flexible about time off.
Pros
A steady check and Hr is very helpful im grateful for beig a part of capital one i just wish they cared more about the associate
Cons
Major firing and at will work so no reason needed to get fired very little room for advancement unless your in good with a manager. Unqualified managers Very ghetto and bad spoken.
Advice to Senior Management
Help people succeed not just have people work some people wan to grow with the company nyc banking operations are not good or helpful to the associate there are many advantages in other cities but capiyal one in nyc is about who you know not how hard you work
Pros
Good environment from peer perspective - overall positive environment. Larger company provides a fair amount of internal opportunities to progress within an organization as opposed to outside.
Cons
Somewhat top heavy in management and not connected to the field - relies too much on analysis and marketing without validation of either numbers or results. Tends to be somewhat of an incestuous business with little opportunity to change old habits.
Advice to Senior Management
Eliminate a few levels and learn how to communicate better. Management style tends to create incentives and communication efforts based on satisfying the existing of management and not really helping to drive success at the operational level. Needs more consistency in operations and clear direction.
Pros
The benefits and pay are unbeatable. I never had a problem getting time off when I needed it. A fun and professional work environment.
Cons
Just like any job, having to deal with different people and their personalities. Not every one gets along perfect, you know.
