    Pros

Great training program, easy systems to learn, management that care about your growth, flexible work hours, great benefits, and great team environment.

    Cons

Job advancement can be difficult passed certain management levels. Company looks outside to fill major job roles instead of looking within. There is also a constant shift in strategic initiatives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on less initiatives and create more internal job opportunities.

I worked at Capital One full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I worked there 10 years and learned a ton. Cap One provided many opportunities to learn and do different jobs. The rewards were great -- large bonuses and stock opportunity.

    Cons

Lost the small company feel as it continued to grow and become a bank. Began to feel more like a number and disconnected. While the rewards were great, performance management was a big dissatisfier as there was a forced rating distribution. This pitted employees against each other.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find ways to reinforce teamwork and move away from forced distributions.

    Pros

Very smart people, good advancement opportunities for some. Relatively relaxed culture, good work life balance for the most part. Overall solid

    Cons

Promotions a popularity contest, some roles you can get assigned to really stink. Some of the people there are overly competitive, vindictive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Capital One full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The compensation and benefits package were competitive with the standard here in Dallas, TX and they rewarded hard work with professional advancement and raises.

    Cons

Too many changes in upper level management. In the 4 years I worked there I had 4 different managers and watched other departments go through the same disconfiguration. What was worse is the managers were almost always replaced with someone less experienced and knowledgeable.

    Pros

Top notch talent sourced from the best colleges and industries. Very open culture - individual opinion matters and not very hierarchical when it comes to sharing feedback/ideas on projects. Very results focus.

    Cons

Constantly changing agenda/strategy. You will be unique if you have the same manager for more than 6 months. Re-organizations are very common.

    Pros

You will be working with very intelligent people due to its strict selection criteria. In general, associate is empowered to drive initiatives. Capital One has very good training program.

    Cons

Company tends to promote similar type of person. If you fall under that type, congratulations, you will have a great career path there. If you don't fall under that type, it is still a good place to work, but don't expect that you will be able to climb the corporate ladder.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It will be helpful to have different type person in management which will help to have better decision.
