Prosthe benefits such as health insurance and dental insurance are great. They were very willing to work with my schedule being a single mother of two kids.

ConsThere is a lot of selling. capital one bank is no longer a paying and receiving establishment. You have to be a good salesperson

Advice to Senior Managementleadership is ok at capital one bank. You have to attend many workshops to help you sell products which is very annoying

Pays well, evaluation process is too random.

    Operations Analyst (Former Employee)
    Richmond, VA

ProsFlexible at taking time off when needed (unless you're working for sales department).
    Pays decent
    Nice campus in Richmond location

ConsEvaluation process is very random. Depends way too much on luck. Senior management lacks ability to recognize talent and support in making unpopular but right decisions.

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior management needs to support unpopular views on occasion in order to do the right thing.
Allocate more time to get to know junior associates.

Not as perfect as described in job interview

    Teller (Current Employee)
    McAllen, TX

Pros*pay is good, better than other banks
    *PTO is also good
    *Incentives are good
*Most of the co-workers are good people
*Capital-one in this area are not as busy as others

Cons*The GAIN is ridiculous, management is never satisfied
*They make you investigate customers in order to make referrals to the bankers (They call it discover hidden needs) have to ask customers where they work, and what plans they have
    (Hate that)
*When the bank gets mystery shoppers and you fail to get a 100% they make sure you feel everyone hates you
*Everyone feels they have the right to tell you what to do
*one day they tell you, you are a great employee, and the next you are the worst
*If one day you have referrals, you're the best, but when
you don' t have any they throw it in you're face, and make you feel unproductive
*Co-workers are great, when you do what they want you to do, when you dont they talk about you until they get tired, and start being great again
*Most of them say that they are professionals, but its not what you see in them

Advice to Senior Managementsome management leaders are good at what they do, but others are so lost, makes me wonder what they saw in them............

    COF review

    Marketing Manager (Current Employee)
    Richmond, VA

ProsVery flexible place to work. It is dynamic and it keeps you engaged. People there are very sharp and while there always are some 'challenging' coworkers anywhere - all in all very nice co-workers.

ConsProcess and procedures sometimes exceed rational execution of work and can make relatively simple tasks more complicated than necessary. But overall these processes provide more good than bad.

Advice to Senior ManagementClarity in objective message could be better; continued reorganization is good as competitive environment changes but sometimes there is too much reogranizing.

    Capital One Point of Sale

    Senior Sales Consultant (Former Employee)
    Los Angeles, CA

ProsGreat working environment. I worked from home and had great support from my Manager to run my own offense and develop business opportunities with great internal support when needed.

ConsThe division I worked for (Point of Sale) was closed due to the economic environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementStick with your core business model of credit cards and banking.
