    Pros

Training program for new hires is one of the best I've seen. The company as a whole has a great culture and great benefits. They offer tuition reimbursement, even if you are using a degree that may not be relevant to work in a banking environment. The traditional benefits (insurance, 401k, etc.) are also some of the best I've seen, at least in the area I live. The company encourages advancement and prefers to promote within.

    Cons

The local management is has too many cliques and doesn't like to work with those who choose not to be part of their cliques. If you don't fit in with their group, they will make work very difficult and will criticize even things you do correctly. The district manager that was hired during my time with Capital One also had unrealistic goals for branches in our area. He had never worked in the lower levels of the banking industry (teller, relationship banker, branch manager) and had only been upper level management since moving to banking, therefore he set unrealistic expectations.

    Advice to Management

Anyone in management who has never actually worked as part of a team in a branch should always be required to as part of their training before being allowed to take the position.

    Pros

Capital One really takes care of it's people. Between the career development and opprotunities, I don't think there is a better place to work for in Richmond

    Cons

If you get promoted rapidly, there is a chance that your compensation will be lower than a person hired off the street for the same role. The system for promotion almost forces you to leave the company and come back to demand fair pay at a higher level.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, and hiring the right people. Capital One has set the bar high as an product, and has the chance to do so an employer.

    Pros

Let me think about this and get back to you

    Cons

My manager soon to be X-manager they must have picked him from the bottom of the barrel. Yes, this is true and I am not kidding. I took my issues with this person to HR rep. And it went on deaf ears. This person tore apart the structure of the team and hired all new people and fired nearly everyone else just to save $. I guess the old employees were too much $. I never saw this manager EVER work even 8 hours a day - totally unplugged could care less about anyone on the team except número uno. Even after I went to HR multiple times, they did nada. And now the loser manager is leaving cap one. And in the process has literally destroyed the team. All I have to say is I am SO glad I don't do ANY business with this company. YES I mean it!
The net result of POOR management is the customer suffers. And that frankly is why I don't do any business with this company. I really wanted this to be the company that everyone one wants to work for but frankly was so naïve. This company must have bought its way to the list of Forbes 100 best companies. Because, if it was a good place to work there would be procedures in place to protect an employee from an unethical manager.

    Advice to Management

Disband your current philosophy. People are not capital.

    Pros

Capital One is a great company. The CEO has great strategy and has made the company very succesful

    Cons

They are currently working through some culture challenges resulting from integrating Bank acquisition and a focus on hiring external talent for Digital positions. The culture can range from conservative "that is how we always have done it" bankers to "hey let's do this cool think" digital managers
