I have been working at Capital One full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Capital One offers a wide variety of career paths with the ability to move around internally. The work-life balance is good with standard hours from 8-5, although some jobs require more than that.

    Cons

There is a high degree of focus on career improvement within the company leading to a very competitive promotion process. Its not uncommon for people to sing their own praises in an effort to get promoted.

I have been working at Capital One

    Pros

Flexible work schedules and opportunities to learn and contribute to the overall success of Capital One.

    Cons

About 75% of employees are contractors with low wages remaining stagnant for the past 20 years and no benefits. If there are benefits offered by the 20 to 35 agencies, the deductibles are prohibitively too high and having such benefits will immediately make your salary equivalent to minimum wages.

There is high job turnover as employees have the good fortune to find employment elsewhere that does have competitive living wages rather than subsistence wages.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In order to maintain a faithful and consistent direct hire workforce, you will have to provide competitive salaries and wages that enable employees to have financial security and not expend their time looking for work elsewhere. By providing competitive living wages rather than subsistence wages, employees will no longer have the burden of searching for work and can invest more time trying to learn how to contribute to the growth of Capital One.

I worked at Capital One full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are slightly better than most companies. Diversity?

    Cons

Management says one thing (i.e. verbalizes the values and culture) and does another. 360 Performance Management is a complete joke... and which is why Microsoft abandoned the same program in early 2014.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do your employees a favor and quit.

I have been working at Capital One full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Live our mission statement & values. Ethical company. Incentive-based programs to promote healthy lifestyle like discounts on healthy food at cafés on campus, doctor/pharmacy onsite, gym onsite with personal trainers at no extra cost, beautiful campus & building facilities, not bureaucratic at all. Access to senior & executive leaders so even though we're large, we all feel like we know Rich & our top-of-the-house crew.

    Cons

Benefit package is so amazing so compensation can feel a bit on the middle to low end of indusrty scale - but where else do you get 3-4 weeks vacation your first year and access to so many on campus amenities?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
