I worked at Capital University full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – - great people
- good benefits
- opportunity to get a lot of varied experiences
- transferable skills that you can take into professions outside of higher education
Cons – - depending on your position, there is a limited amount of opportunity to advance
- more of a general higher education concern, but there is lower compensation
Advice to Senior Management – Try to vary some of the experiences of the employees. It's easy to fall into the same routines and give people the same assignments, but that leads to boredom and doesn't keep people engaged. Work to challenge your employees more and reward them accordingly.

I worked at Capital University part-time for more than 10 years
Pros – It's a great location. The campus is very attractive. The hours are reasonable compared to a lot of other employers.
Cons – It is a culture that does not seek, value or tolerate open communication or different points of view. Compensation is below average.

I worked at Capital University part-time for more than 3 years
Pros – I learned a lot and made lifelong connections. Many students have been hired on later and they offer great recommendations when you move on to the next step in life.
Cons – As a student job there is only so far up in pay you can go. There is a lot of work done and responsibilities gained, however, the pay is set on a university level.

I worked at Capital University
Pros – Good benefits package for faculty members.
Cons – No funding opportunities. All departments lack equipment and technology comparable to other universities in the region. Very low diversity and no strategies to encourage diversity among students or faculty. No support from department chairs with concerns to students. No help from IT or Public Safety when dealing with any issues. If you are looking for a research institution, look elsewhere.
The salary is low and students are unmotivated.
Would not recommend working here as a faculty member or a staff member.
