  1. Good Company

I have been working at Capstone Corporation

    Pros

One of the best things about the company is the support from the corporate staff in particular HR and Accounting. They definitely do their best to help out in anyway they can. The benefits that are offered are good and competitive to other companies. The Chairman and Vice Chairman truly care about their employees and that is felt across the board.

    Cons

There is a lack of upward mobility, but hopefully as the company bounces back, there will be more opportunities. More investment in training opportunities would be nice.

    I worked at Capstone Corporation

    Pros

Salary was good. High level executives attended Christmas holiday parties and attempted to meet employees on quarterly basis when possible.

    Cons

Professional development opportunities declined greatly over the years. No pay raises or cost of living adjustments in 4 years.

    Pros

Capstone is a mid-size company with the small company feel. They take care of their employees and offer a competitive compensation and benefits plan in light of the current government contracting market. The support from the headquarters team to include HR and Accounting is great. They do all they can to support employees in the field.

    Cons

With the necessity to implement efficiency, it may take a bit to get a response.

    Pros

Decent benefits at first Non-HR employees are good Compensation and raises were decent at first

    Cons

When benefits declined, they did not give enough information HR has WAY too much power.... why is someone without a college degree and just a certificate in HR advising every department at every turn? Some years they insist that there is no money for raises... except for executive bonuses No opportunities for growth Former CEO really had no idea of the operations, hopefully the new one will take care of these issues above.

    Advice to Management

Get decent HR, actually track reports, and get a CEO who will actually manage

    Pros

Small company, great benefits, good contracts

    Cons

During the transition from HQ US JFCOM to the HR JS I was continuously told I was golden or hand picked and my job was secure. This was comforting since I saw a 40% reduction of the work force implemented. This continued for several months, still the same line your golden. On 20 Aug 2011, I was asked to call my Division chief at a specific number on a private line. I did and he told me my position was being changed to an Army background and my background was Air Force my last day would be 31 Aug 2011. So I was given 11 days to find a job during the worst contractor reduction in the last 20 years. Thank you so very much!

    Advice to Management

After three years of commuting more than 130 miles a day and being stuck in traffic from 4 to 5 hours each work day I was given a whopping two weeks severance pay. Perhaps you should rethink the cheapness with which you operate it will bite you in the end!

    Pros

They have taken care of me through some of my most difficult live challenges. Good benefits, and great human resources department. They take care of their people... If they can.

    Cons

They are a contracting company, so if your contract goes away the will try to place you elsewhere. Over the course of my employment they have lost some great upper management, and this has led to less interaction with remote stations.

    Pros

Capstone is a very well positioned government support services and contracting firm operating out of the Washington DC and Norfolk VA areas

    Cons

Access to corporate headquarters current programs and projects is at times delayed from the Norfolk / Virginia Beach location.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great growth plans in today's challenging government contracting environment.
