Pros
Great growth opportunities and ways ti improve your own development
Cons
Long hours, sometime your opinion won't count.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't be afraid to really c what's going on in ur stores.
Pros
Great Pay and Benefits. You gain a wealth of knowledge about the auto business and improve behavior competencies. Team atmosphere.
Cons
Long Hours, retail schedule, poor performance recognition, and highly critical of any errors.
Pros
No cap on income
Benefits are so so
Great quality product
Cons
Limited ability to grow as an associate unless you play well to office politics
Not stable income
Advice to Senior Management
Help out associates more rather than talk about sports and poker.
Pros
Excellent product and brand. You can treat your customers with respect and go to bed at night secure in the knowledge that you've sold them a great product at a good price. Carmax takes great care of its customers. While no company is perfect Carmax is always striving to improve. The Carmax sales process is very customer focused. It's truly a great place to buy a car.
Cons
The pay per unit sold is below average. Carmax management is very top down and and centrally managed. This means that at times policies are developed and implemented by people that have literally never worked in a store. The field management has too little autonomy. And, at least in my store, management is disinclined to listen to the front line employee including the sales associates.
Advice to Senior Management
Solicit and then, most importantly accept field feedback. Implement stronger feedback loops into your processes. Look for quality breakdowns between production, inventory, sales, service, and business office. Enhance compensation. It is too low in most areas.
Pros
You have the opportunity to learn a lot
Learn to work in a fast pace environment while under pressure.
Learn the meaning of customer service
Most of the time a friendly environment to work in, with pretty much open door policy.
Great benefits
Cons
Underpaid. The business office handles so much and gets paid so little for everything they have to do.
Under appreciated, wether you are staying late or coming in on your day off. Also helping out whenever asked apparently mean nothing.
Lack of team work, some people worked hard some didn't. As well as favoritism witht he departments, sales runs the show.
Favoritism with associates.
Horrible hours, while working there my whole life was CarMax I was always there.
Managment is quick to throw you under the bus.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop running over the people who have proven their dedication to the team. Get rid of bad managers quickly instead of letting them run departments down and employees away by the time you remove them.
Pros
Its a job - not an adventure.
Cons
Work too many hours for the money paid.
Advice to Senior Management
Quit scheduling sales consultants 10 - 12 hour shifts.
Pros
Business is stable and its a job
Cons
The hours suck, crappy pay. But really with the amount of people needing work your replaceable.
Advice to Senior Management
Management does not care, why should they they are set.
Pros
Life and Work balance. Open door policy, training for associates,
Cons
Politics with in the regions.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate with senior managers as you require senior managers to communicate with non-senior managers.
Pros
Great benefits, approchable upper management, no siloe management, Great oppurtunities for advancement
Cons
Over night away, very accountable by numbers and reports
Pros
The job was steady, always felt like I was helping someone and not hurting them. Every Sunday was a role plays to get better and the atmosphere for the most part was great and welcoming.
Cons
The job still is commission so you have those that try to take money out of your pocket. You dont get as much money as if you were at a traditional dealer.
Advice to Senior Management
The company plan is very good, the direction carmax is headed is the right one.
