    Pros

Carbis is a very innovative fast paced growing company that has lots to offer its employees, all of whom the owners consider family. They offer great benefits and opportunities for individual growth that most other companies in Florence, SC do not.

    Cons

Some employees are negative and want to complain about minor things that happen with any job and they try to bring everyone else down with them.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and those that cannot keep up in the fast paced growing environment without trying to bring everyone else down with their personal drama will soon fall by the wayside.

    Pros

There are still a few great people there but that won't last long if senior management/ownership stays on their current path.

    Cons

Senior management in charge has no respect for employees or managers but requires respect from them. The culture is one of extreme micromanagement where the President spends most of the time snooping in people's email boxes and personal business outside of work than even attempting to solve the real business issues at hand. If an employee is not best friends with senior management/owners they won't be there long. The rules and policies are supposed to be made by employees but are dictated by the President and carried out by the President's sycophants. There are daily demonstrations of senior management's belief that they know more than anyone else. It is a common occurrence for employees and managers alike to be demeaned and belittled by senior management in front of groups of their co-workers. Business market strategy is determined by what new book has been read and how senior management twists the theory to fit their particular needs. It's all about putting money in the pockets of the President with no regard for the loyal employees and managers who work hard day in and day out just trying to make a living and keep their jobs. Senior management in charge only thinks about what they see, think, believe, need, understand. So much time is spent blaming mid-level management for the problems created and further exacerbated by senior management. The level of drama is equal to an episode of Empire. The level of distrust and game playing is equal to Game of Thrones. The customers aren't even treated with respect.

    Advice to Management

Get over your sense of entitlement and stop blaming everyone for what's wrong. You are the problem. You are the reason your business is failing. The culture of a company comes from the top and flows down. You spread fear and distrust. You continue to say you want people to think and speak up. This is not true at all. What you really want are people who blindly follow you asking no questions without a chance of overshadowing you with any viable business acumen. Step up to the plate and take responsibility for what you have done and continue to do. You are running your own company down and ruining good people's lives while doing so. Stop treating your employees like pawns in some game for your entertainment.

    Pros

There are no longer any pros for this company.

    Cons

The fact that the owner felt necessary to tell employees they needed to have permission from them to even be involved with a program outside of work; such as a music ministry at their church. Since when does a human being have to have permission to do anything when they are no longer on the clock. Also the changing of rules at the convenience of the owner, you can eat at your desk, then next month you can't. You can chew gum one day and the next not. This type of management isn't managing it is trying to control everything even the things that they have no right to control. They may have been the #1 in the industry but it is time for you to wake up you are no longer #1. That is sad because you have the opportunity but you threw it way because your mentality is anyone can be replaced. What you forgot is so can you and if you keep going in the direction you are going you won't have any one to control and that includes your company. You have lost many key people in your company and will continue to eventually you won't have enough work force to keep your company going and the only one to blame is the owner. What is sad is the owner is very smart and has the ability to bring the company to higher levels but not in the way you have done for the last several years. This is America a free county not a communist country with a dictatorship.

    Advice to Management

Advice to one management that is the owner (not Sam), you don't have to control everything. Even your grandmother new that, she believed in her employers and she trusted them to do their job so what happen to you. You have the same ability but you got lost down the road somewhere. Your company became #1 not because of you but the people who worked for you and you forgot that.

    Pros

Very cool industry that is extremely interesting to learn. Lots of travel on the company's dime. Some of the employees are really cool and easy to work with. Meeting folks around the country and learning about the work they do.

    Cons

Horrible company culture. Micro management. The owners snoop around listening in on everything that is going on and seem super paranoid. The travel requirements can be excessive. You can't trust any employees that work there since they all fear for their jobs too. The promised job raises don't happen like they say they will. Unclear performance expectations. Allowing negative employees to stay employed.

    Advice to Management

No sense in regurgitating the other negative reviews, they are spot on. My advice to the owner is simple. QUIT. Go ahead and enjoy a early retirement and get your family out. Feel better knowing that you just made the lives of your employees incredible just by not showing your faces everyday. Then hire qualified people to run your company. You will make more money, have less turn over, and get back to the number one spot in the industry. If you choose not to quit, learn how to manage from a distance and let your management team have some say so without the fear of getting fired. Quit ruling with fear. You can try and change your company all you want to with your never ending and completely ineffective changes but until you put your employees and customers first, you will continue to fall behind.

    Pros

Its a stepping stone to the next job.

    Cons

It's really sad to see how far this company has slid down the slope when it comes to taking care of those who take care of them. They build their city of gold while the "soldiers" that protect it are looked down upon as if they are useless. Some do better than others working for them. From my stand point, people are not paid what they are truly worth, with the exception of the owners.I agree that they take the greatest risk and should make good money.I would also agree that their skill set has helped make me money but they need to understand mine has made them rich beyond their wildest dreams. They are certainly living alot better on my skills than I am living on theirs. The company is just a few big moves away from being a good place to work.At the same time, they are just a few moves away from having major league problems.I think that if they don't do something to entice their production employees to want to stay and want to work, the turn over rate is going to show in the quality. That's when the downhill slide will get out of control and they will hit the bottom harder than they ever imagined.

    Advice to Management

You didn't build this company all by yourselves. You have completely ignored the people that made you rich.Without the employees, the customers wouldn't matter.

    Pros

They were lucky enough to have some really solid sales team members. I liked the job until I understood how management worked

    Cons

Where to start. If it was possible to give this company 0 stars I would. They make a lot of promises to you and the job sounds great on paper. Then reality sets in. I have never in my life worked for a more incompetent management team. There is no consistency and if you aren't a brown noser or one of their buddies your days are numbered. They don't promote or give raises to the most successful sales people, they promote their friends. Job security?? Forget it. You will get fired without any warning and with no valid reason except that you don't fit in their "circle". I saw many very good sales reps get fired. Look up the company's turn over rate; it is unheard of. And heartless, fired people the day before Thanksgiving and Christmas. People are always afraid that they will be fired. There is no regard for their employees or their families. Just because the company has been handed down the family line doesn't mean they know a thing about business. Its run like they think Carbis sells itself because of the name and the sales team is irrelevant. This job may be tempting because of a decent starting salary and promises of pay increases (which never happened) but don't be fooled. Seriously, look elsewhere. There is a reason why their competition who has been in business a lot less years are taking more of the market share. I had a lot of hopes for this company and figured this would be my last stop for at least a good long while. Just do your research, listen to what the employees are saying.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your employees, work with them, and stop firing people all the time! They are what make your company.

    Pros

Family oriented company that promotes a team atmosphere. Carbis is committed to helping their clients succeed and not peddling the equipment like some of the competitors do. The Carbis name is a brand name in the industry and is well know for the quality of their products. Very stable company that has been around since the 1930's.

    Cons

The sales review process has not always been consistent. Sometimes you have to travel more than you would like.

    Advice to Management

Continue the culture that has put Carbis as the world leader in the industry of keeping our clients people safe and their products flowing.

    Pros

Being employed!!! Working with wonderful people in all areas of the company. Knowing that I can count on co-workers in all different departments to give me help and advice when working with a client. The positive atmosphere that is happening within the whole company and departments. The CEO and COO asking for the employees to join with them and welcoming employees to make suggestions and help them to make Carbis grow as the industry leader.

    Cons

Negativity of some employees. Some employees still need to realize that instead of spreading rumors and things they hear, to instead verify the fears and talk of negative changes heard with the person that it deals with before asking your other coworkers.

    Advice to Management

Keep going the direction that you are going. The positive energy that is being displayed is great. Thank you for making such a noticed effort to lead this company in a direction of growth, but at the same time caring about what Carbis does and the industry we provide to.

    Pros

    - Compensation for company employees is very attractive
    - The ability to work with Fortune 500 companies on large projects
    - The experience levels of the overall sales group is very impressive
    - It seems that the negative reputation Carbis has been known for is transitioning to a fun place to work.
= The management structure, which in the past was confusing and gave little direction, seems to all be on the same page and has a definite direction.
    - the people, from top to bottom, are genuinely good people.

    Cons

    - In the past, a major con would have been the lack of direction. However, more recently, it looks as though that there is a consensus from all upper management on the future and direction of the company.

    - HR policies can be somewhat too ridiculous at times. Employees need to be look at as assets.

    Advice to Management

Keep moving forward with the positive message and philosophy. There seems to be some real excitement flowing through the office.
