I worked at Cardinal Glass part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Friendly people, the Pay was decent for a college student. There were other college students that worked during the summer which you got to know. The factory was pretty safe. There is a physical therapist for if you have injuries.

    Cons

It has usual factory cons. There is a lot of noise. You do sometimes cut yourself a bit (but great safety equipment makes it usually no worse than small nicks.)

I worked at Cardinal Glass full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Cardinal hires some pretty great and over-qualified people. Night shift your left alone. Great in-shift relationships with coworkers

    Cons

I witnessed shifts being pitted against each other and other supervisors can be lax on the other shifts. Constant schedule change kills you. Not enough leave time and they will fire you over time off than work performance. Profit sharing is almost non-existent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay a real wage and make an effort to take care of your employees. They are your backbone of the company

I have been working at Cardinal Glass full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I get a fat extra check every month from profit sharing, dont have to put my own money in 401K, have great co-workers, schedule allows plenty of time off, all of management worked their way up the ladder, advancement opportunities for those who work for it. Effective training, Supervisors and Managers generally pretty cool and involved.

    Cons

Low starting wage, but money comes in time with effort. Long 12 hour days, but results in long weekends, Have to work with some slackers that never seem to get fired. Lots of turnover with new employees. Lots of people complain about high deductable medical, works great for me.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on getting rid of the guys who have been slacking for years, Give more frequent raises for new hires to keep them around longer.

    Pros

Cardinal Glass has good flexibility, good managers, a solid bonus structure and is overall a very solid employer that will pay off if you work hard.

    Cons

Cardinal Glass has a little of the old boys club or favorites but not overwhelming. Some disorganization or goal setting within upper management.

I have been working at Cardinal Glass full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Its a job. Pay is average with area. Management is nice. Does not take much vacation time to take a week off (24hrs). Dollar lunch days, Quality cook outs

    Cons

Work schedule changing every two weeks is hard on the body. High deductible insurance, max out on wage in two years (more than a $.25 a year. You get $.50 every six months up until year two). Haven't had profit share in over a year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the wage a bit better, work harder on the medical insurance,

I worked at Cardinal Glass full-time

    Pros

Adequate pay, majority of production force are hard workers, very successful sales with a good customer base. Company is situated in a beautiful fruit orchard - filled valley.

    Cons

Priority order = production, safety, quality. Employees are pushed hard without much appreciation. Department managers are uninvolved and ineffective causing serious resentment from the production crews. Complaints are treated as insubordination and ignored.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take an anonymous survey of your employees' feelings and concerns about their department's manager. Even though the company is thriving financially your work force is extremely unhappy.
