Pros
stable industry
salaries are middle of the road
hourly pay is low for the area
Cons
no work / life balance
with so little competition they feel no need to excel
Advice to Senior Management
the economy will eventually improve and turnover will jump
Pros
Great benefits and people that make projects and other endeavors achievable and enjoyable. The company also stays up on the cutting edge of technology for the most part.
Cons
Sometimes the hours are long and putting in extra time is necessary to be on call and whatnot, but for the most part this is something you want when working for such a great company.
Advice to Senior Management
The management in my office are very helpful and supportive to my needs. I feel like we are more friends than co-workers, but have that while maintaining a level of professionalism to drive success.
Pros
Benefits are top notch
Large and profitable corporation
Cons
Hourly employees are just a number... to be used up and replaced.
The good old boy system is still alive and well at Cardinal.
Management (exempt) employees are required to work long hours without any reasonable compensation for the extra time - forget work life balance. Divide you hours worked into your salary and it's ugly.
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to encourage top performance by being envolved with and respecting employees.
Have vision beyond the monthly and quarterly reports.
Address and correct the political and good old boy systems that exist in the distribution centers.
Pros
Very collaborative environment, resource allocation is constraint but not hard to overcome, funding for project work available provided there is a good business justification
Cons
lack of strict adherence to what could be termed 'strict' project management principles
Advice to Senior Management
Overall Management does a very good job, need to pay closer attention to project budgeting principles.
Pros
opportunity for growth is good
Cons
at the local level poor management
Advice to Senior Management
please monitor the local management better
Pros
Benefits, Time off and pay are exceptional
Cons
Not a lot of opportunities for Field based emloyees to move up within the organization
Pros
Salary is decent
Management cares for employees to an extent
Cons
Health Benefits are not great for being a healthcare company
Too many projects, very little planning
Very passive environment
Very stressful
Advice to Senior Management
Most of the people in Management just want to climb the ladder
Non confrontational environment - there should be more accountability
Top management is not shown the real picture
Pros
PTO. Good company model. Senior execs talks a good talk and get you excited to be a part of company.
Cons
Pay. Promotions sound great until your work quadruples and pay barely increases.
Advice to Senior Management
Ask us how can we improve. Encourage & Lead, it's rewarding and makes you look good. Effective leaders are respected.
Pros
People in the lower positions are great. The work the company does is something to be proud of.
Cons
They consider it as "letting the inmates run the asylum" when considering employee wants and desires in relation to job movement.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't let good employees walk away.
Pros
There is great opportunity to work with customers and witness the fruits of your labor.
Cons
Directional ineptitude, we are in a constant state of reorganizing and restructuring in an attempt to find out who we are and where we want to go.
Advice to Senior Management
Too often I have been involved in absolutely fantastic teams that have been dismembered for one reason or another. We have great people, ideas and philosophies but constantly changing these on a whim has diluted our potentials.
