Easy to stand out, benefits are great and the costs are relatively low, respective for employees, can take the role where you want to, good company culture.
Cons
Still a bit heavy on collaboration, too much deadwood in the company, some folks just need to be released.
Advice to Senior Management
Look for those that don't offer any value or really do anything.

Great overall culture. Plenty of room for advancement if you are able and willing. Senior management consists of some of the brightest/most experienced individuals I have ever interacted with. Incredible facilities (at least in Dublin). A very diverse and accepting atmosphere.
Cons
Pay is not the greatest- I would say slightly above average, HR will say this is because of "the work/life balance you will enjoy at cardinal health. While your neighbors may earn more, they will be required to work 50-60 hrs/week" blah blah blah. It really depends on who you report to and what your job function will be if you actually work only 40 hrs/week. I've seen interns who work up to 60 hrs/week (I was one of them).
Advice to Senior Management
Trim the fat at this company. There are a ton of incredible employees who work hard and perform admirably....the rest (about 25%) are essentially wasting space and trying not to be seen while doing it. It's the nature of the beast with such a large company...employees who will just skate bye, but it would be nice if you could weed them out and give the rest of us a nice raise, while still cutting salary costs overall.

Direct coworkers were great to work with. Overall was able to keep a good work life balance minus the on call weekends.
Cons
Question senion leaderships competence. Always seemed to be changing direction. Somewhat par for the industry but it really seemed as though competitors had a clear vision towards the future which Cardinal definately lacked.
Advice to Senior Management
Work to keep a clear future and make sure that you hire the best candidates for regional positions as this seems to be the biggest obstacle for the company. Regional Managers are not very competent and their decision making is questionable.
Pros
I've heard claims that outside the IT Service Center the company is a Utopian playground for employees. There's an on-site gym and a decent credit union at the main corporate building at least.
Cons
Rewards incompetence by promoting it up the food chain. Meetings are a constant time sink once you make it above analyst level - but don't expect to get anything done in them. Kaizen events intended to streamline processes are rarely followed through on, or affect long term change. It is entirely about who you know and whose ass you've kissed most recently when it comes to internal interviews. Positions open and are filled without ever being posted publicly, by supervisors promoting their friends and favorites.
Advice to Senior Management
The lip service to core values is tired. A sense of urgency and focus is lacking. And the grand sense of entitlement shown by all levels of management to the "peons" who help make the company run makes for a less than satisfactory work environment.

Co-worker backstabbing and brown-nosing to get ahead. Managers favor their “pets” and shift blame to scapegoats. Management pets have free rein to bully others. HR protects management, believing whatever the manager tells them . Employees afraid of being fired as a scapegoat, with no recourse.
Advice to Senior Management
Corporate HR needs to investigate the Center for the Advancement of Molecular Imaging. But until the group starts imploding, I doubt aything will happen.
Pros
Great project opportunities: There are many system improvements occuring within Cardinal. Supportive of Innovation; Lean Six Sigma initiatives, Kaizens, Blackbelt Projects, etc.
Career Development: Cardinal encourages employees to stay in a department 2-3 years and then supports you to move to another department.
WIN (Women's Initiative Network): Great networking opportunity for both women and men. Have great meetings, including Working Parent Group panel discussion.
Lunch N Learns: During lunch, learn about different groups within Cardinal and their initiatives/scope.
Cons
Work life balance in Corporate FP&A is not consistent with other departments within Cardinal. Cardinal Sr. Mgt supports work/life balance - flextime (flexible hours, working 4 10hr days, etc.) and allow working from home. But please note that you can't expect this from all groups, particularly in Corporate due to the high level management you support. WIthin Corporate FP&A long hours are expected and low pay.
Entire Cardinal is very secretive about compensation, including pay bands for positions. Majority of companies are not secretive about pay bands - Cardinal Health is secretive because they know they under pay their employees.
Advice to Senior Management
If you want to retain talent, which is part of your MBO's (management business objectives) think about what will keep talented employees in your group and at Cardinal.
