I have been working at Cardinal Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The culture and ability to advance at Cardinal Health make it a great company to work for. Cardinal Health finds itself in the center of a changing industry and continues to evolve to keep the company relevant not just as a distributor or medical products and pharmaceuticals, but also as a business partner for health systems.

    Cons

Simply due to the size of Cardinal Health, it is sometimes difficult to get direct exposure to senior executives in certain roles within the organization.

    I worked at Cardinal Health

    Pros

Good pay for night shift, low OT, good benefits, great safety policy

    Cons

Turnover!!! And once you're in a certain position there it's put up with misfits who've worked at the company for decades that even when they do wrong don't get punished but patted on the head. The managers are okay but sometimes not very fair or helpful. This company claims to be all inclusive but that applies to race, sex, sex preference, religion but not if you have a mental illness. I'm one of few that can work with my disability but they were unwilling to help me with accommodations that would've kept me working there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn your Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 laws and have them as well versed as you do EH&S rules and OSHA laws.

    Pros

Working at the IT service center is a 9-5 job. You do not have to worry about it once you leave. Show up on time and adhere to a schedule, and you'll be successful. This is a good "stepping stone" job.

You can telework after 5 years of working at the service center (in general).

    Cons

    Slow to increase pay.
Difficult to move up in the company.
As with any job it can get repetitive and you can get burnt out at times.

    Pros

opportunity to learn industry and regulatory quickly through consulting segment

    Cons

Many are started as new employees "out of pay band" for their role. The segment is flat with silos in the organizational structure so it is hard to truly "move up" or “across” departments. Promotions do not increase pay accordingly, especially when moving to management levels. Leadership positions are blocked by legacy mentality or by the silo’s inherent to the organization structure. Billing targets are the only metric of success and incentive/motivation. No career development, continuing education, or training due to a billing driven structure.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider and value the actual voice of your employee. Talent retention and true talent growth/promotion from within is vital to maintaining your product which is the consultant and his/her knowledge base. No consultant equals no product and that leads to not meeting the billing targets.

Customer Service--Radcliff,KY--Unstable, Toxic, Chaotic ,and needlessly stressful work environment.

Former Employee - Customer Service Representative in Radcliff, KY

I worked at Cardinal Health full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Mon-Friday schedule, inside work, some good team mates and supervisors

    Cons

Constantly changing procedures. Procedures that need to be changed at DC level and customer ops that contribute to chaos. Job insecurity with threat of outsourcing of csr and other jobs constantly hanging over head. Work overload. Abusive verbal conduct on the part of Sales Reps (Mostly Field Reps, but even some Inside Sales Reps). Unreliable IT systems. Overly complex IT Customer Service software. Supervisors quitting left and right and even local Manager positions now on the block. Constant restructuring of customer service ops, can't seem to figure it out. Company showing signs of coming apart at the seams. Make sure your ventilation systems are free of allergens and dust.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay loyal to your American workers who have served you for years. Stop outsourcing jobs and hanging threat of job loss over you customer service reps and other employees. Work out the kinks in your current systems. Fix what you have instead of just jumping wholesale into new applications. Get DC's to complete Service Issues for credits instead of leaving them incomplete for CSR's to maintain on top of everything else they have to do. Stop the on-site kindergarten and grade school activities that reduce productivity. Your employees are adults, not children. Support your CSR's with direct supervisor where they work, not from a remote location. Stop talking out of both sides of your mouth. Stop trying to sell your employees on staying with you when you are ready to cut them as soon as you can by outsourcing their jobs to save a buck, because you are insulting their intelligence and they can see right through your double-talk. Put more people back on the phones and beef up back office employee numbers to take unneeded pressure and stress off your inbound reps. Create single-point contact area for credit and risk situations concerning customers. Get your credit department to apply payments asap to prevent order blockages. Improve your customer ops area to prevent new customers from having order blocked because of "risk" created by poor account setup. School your Sales Reps (Inside and Outside) on how to communicate with CSR's in the same respectful and professional manner you require of CSR's .
