Current Employee – been working at Cardno ENTRIX full-time
Pros – The variety of projects I was involved in was pretty good. Some of my co-workers/bosses were good to work for and learn from.
The flexibility in hours, at least in the office, was really nice.
Cons – Little chance to grow as a professional.
The lack of supervision from the supervisors, especially when it comes to managing (or not managing) their staff. Favoritism started to become really apparent, especially when it came to eduction. Having a higher degree does not make you a better employee, yet the supervisor just saw the letters behind the name, rather then the ability to do the job appropriately.
Overall, the company was too expensive to bid on small projects and so came across very slow times. This caused a lot of grief when it came to keeping your hours billable.
Advice to Senior Management – Realize that to grow as a company, you will need to modify your ideas on getting contracts. Maybe set rates per project rather than a blanket set of rates. You might not make a whole lot of money on some projects, but you will get clients and likely keep those clients while building you're reputation.
As a lower man on the totem pole, I felt as though I was treated with disdain for not staying billable. But, that is management's position to bring in work. That's why they are getting paid that big salary. If they can't do it, you need to drop their hours and/or wage.
Make sure your managers are keeping track of what their employees are doing, or not doing. It's offensive to the lower staff to see higher staff spending hours a day playing around on the internet, making personal phone calls, taking (paid) time off to teach classes that are not even remotely related to the job at the company. Very discouraging.

Former Employee – worked at Cardno ENTRIX full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Most of the people at the company are friendly and fun to work with. Lower level managers are friendly and approachable, and seem to genuinely care about their employees.
Cons – Management is completely disorganized and has a high turnover rate. Employees are often assigned to jobs above their qualifications with little supervision by a qualified coworker. In my opinion this company values individuals who will pretend they know what they are doing over more qualified individuals who are honest about their limitations. Also, receiving an email every 2 weeks about less than anticipated quarterly profits and layoffs does not facilitate a positive work environment. Finding a new job was the best career move I ever did.
Advice to Senior Management – Develop a training and mentoring program for your employees. There is nothing worse for a motivated individual than to have a superior or mentor say they do not have time to help you, or tell just do what you think is right when approached with a legitimate question. There are a lot of smart scientists and engineers at the company who could educate one and other, however no effort is made to facilitate that due to the cost.

Current Employee – been working at Cardno ENTRIX full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Provides a variety of projects, the ability for self starters to expand existing skill sets, and very little micromanagement of work/products.
Cons – The shift to a publically traided company has been far from smooth, and upper management is ill equipped to deal with the subtleties of managing staff and stockholders. Technical staff is provided little oversight or administrative support and often succeeds in meeting client needs in spite of management.
Advice to Senior Management – Upper management seems completely unaware of what goes into providing client services on an office level.
