    Pros

Company offers good wages, benefits and transition from temp to FTE

    Cons

Micro-management, focus, communication skills, lack of strategies, personal development or investment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Single minded management focuses on Wall Street's quarterly review and bottom line will only take you so far. It's continued focus on outsourcing to overseas is about to seriously impact its ability to ensure contract renewals and satisfaction. People truly want to strive to provide the best possible end result for both the company it used to trust and its faceless patients who use to the company's foundation. Post spin off CareFusion from Cardinal Health it has yet to find its driving force and focus on how to resume it's place as the first in class it use to be. So many employees are holding out to see if it can be turned around but are ready for the possible layoff that seems to be inevitable

    Pros

Most of the people are first rate. The wages and benefits are average for San Diego, the location is great, and the products and services are best in market, and "CareFusion" looks great on a resume.

    Cons

As a spinoff from Cardinal Health in 2009, CareFusion is still trying to figure much of itself out.
Add staff, cut staff, add staff, cut staff...
No stock purchase program. No annual revenue share. And the 2% subjective employee bonus and 401k match are fairly pitiful.
New product release timing is more important than it actually working as intended.
Politically, favoritism is rampant. The saturation of Director level + above (and even at the manager level) having been placed in their position owing more to relationship than skillset is pretty high.
Watching good employees leave in droves, or be cut in a RIF because they were on the wrong side of the political fence, is something that should be considered before you apply.
Very little trust between employee and manager. "Open and honest 2-way communication" is purely lip service.
If you are constantly adaptive within the ongoing change management, and know how to tell people what they want to hear, and cover your rear well, you will do fine.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be careful in your pursuit of doing more with less.

    Pros

Non-management employees are usually genuine regarding their concern about the customer and the products they produce. They are hard workers that are easy to work with regarding any type of issue.Non-management employees are usually genuine regarding their concern about the customer and the products they produce. They are hard workers that are easy to work with regarding any type of issue.

    Cons

Management preaches ethics and code of conduct but, fails to follow them. The lower level employees are always to blame.

Management is not engaged with staffing and product issues.

The HR department very seldom sides with the lower level employee. Regardless of the evidence to support the employees claim.

    Favoritism runs repent.

Out date systems too quickly and easily identify issues regarding products.

This is just a few things. There are really too many to list.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    HR
Start supporting the lower level employees and hold all levels of management accountable.

    Pros

    Generous vacation package.
Nice industry - working with clinical workers is an honor for me.

    Cons

Utterly chaotic environment. Extremely high turnover. Too many managers managing roles they don't have the knowledge, skills, or aptitude to manage. Too many promotions based purely on personality. Skills do not earn promotions. Extremely political environment. Lot's of BS going around and the managers all seem to have forgotten how to spot it. People who make empty promises and deliver nothing get promoted as long as they know the right people. Those who actually produce are often forgotten and receive no recognition.

All the new (post Cardinal Health) senior management is overly motivated by money and nothing else. All the people who actually cared about anything and had any depth to their experience have been replaced by fast talking MBAs with salesman personalities. These guys could really care less about the state of things they manage. They're just thinking about their next bonus and many of them don't last long at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start looking for jobs. BD is probably not as stupid and gullible as the CF board of directors.

    Pros

I used to think Carefusion was an okay place to work until they screwed us after years of service destroying people's lives to make their bottom line better and put large bonuses in upper management's pockets.

    Cons

They have a company wide day of caring last week to celebrate a 5 year milestone then tell everyone we're losing our jobs around Christmas. Management is sneaky telling you not to believe rumors... Of course their jobs are protected.

    Pros

Salary, Benefits, PTO decent. Fellow employees do care about the work they do making lives better for patients and clinicians

    Cons

Wall Street and stock price has become the focus of how business is done. Therefore budgets for face to face work with customers are slashed. Each engineer has accountability for 3 to 4 projects generally due at the same time so there is not enough time to adequately focus on the objectives for each team. Employees are never sure what has priority which has lowered morale tremendously.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When this company was at its peak, there were 3 & only 3 objectives that every employee was focused. This created an arrow sharp trajectory that brought all employees together (across functions and shared departments) for common goals. EVERYONE was awarded for meeting these priorities & morale was always high.

I worked at CareFusion full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay was decent. Co-workers made going to work more worth while. They are always willing to help and have a good sense of humor to give a slight boos in the already low morale. The company gives good discounts from other vendors, but they are not as good as when they were Cardinal Health. If you can survive the riff-raff of this company, you can work anywhere.

    Cons

Due to the high demands of upper management, lower management tends to micromanage and has limited knowledge about the products being supported. If you have a question on how to troubleshoot an issue, it's best to seek help from a colleague than with a supervisor. Communication from upper management is poor and always changing. They are starting to offshore a lot of positions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep jobs in San Diego. The employees that are at CareFusion are very intelligent, considering they are given poor training and documentation, so work on maintaining your top employees. Better yet, take better care of your employees.
