I have been working at CareStar full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Get to work from home and somewhat set your own schedule. Salary is decent. Supervisors are understanding.

    Cons

Workload is overwhelming. I spend a lot of my personal at-home time doing my job. The program requirements are overwhelming, and ever-changing, and the work itself is sometimes stressful. There is a lot of time spent driving around, sometimes in unfamiliar areas, as well as visiting individuals in unsafe areas and conditions.

    Advice to Management

Please understand how overwhelming the program requirements are. It is really stressful spending so much extra time working during my evening and weekend hours.

    Pros

Working from home and having a flexible schedule are a plus. I set my own schedule and if I need to go to a personal appointment I just work around it. My supervisor is very good and available almost all of the time for questions or problems. Salary is fairly good. There is no 'office politics' since you work independently from home. The company has an ESOP and 401K which they match. CEO is very ethical and seems to care about each employee.

    Cons

Constant change but these changes come from Ohio Department of Medicaid with unrealistic expectations. The work load is heavy and I work a lot of evenings, weekends and some holidays just to catch up. Insurance is very poor. If you have small children this is not the job for you.

    Advice to Management

The work load is unrealistic, always working evenings and weekends trying to catch up for the next week. Lower case loads would help and trying to keep the same clients. Constant case load adjustments make it difficult to get to know people and what they need. I know some case managers work in 1 or 2 counties but I work in 6 different counties. The travel time and mileage are horrible. Some days I spend 3-4 hours just driving which is unproductive time. I have to play 'catch up' every evening just to keep my head above water.

I have been working at CareStar full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

When I started at CareStar in 2011 I loved my job. As a Case Manager I got to work from a home office and have a flexible schedule.

    Cons

The work overload, unrealistic expectations of management, and non-caring attitude have become too much. It is not worth jeprodizing my nursing license to continue working there.

    Advice to Management

Wake Up!!! You are losing your best employees
