Pros
really great co-workers, fun work outings, great benefits package, fun work atmosphere, downtown location, incentives to perform to the best of your ability are substantial
Cons
crappy leads to start off with - most of them have probably been called 10+ times before by someone in your shoes, a lot of them were dead ends because the organization had already been sold by another CB employee, BIG BROTHER feel - they record everything!!! and they make sure everyone else knows about it. Some of the Managers have issues with employee confidentiality - ie if someone goes on plan, the managers will tell other team members thus making it uncomfortable and annoying to get your job done.
Advice to Senior Management
I think Matt Ferguson is great - he really does make himself available to employees and I think coming from the Midwest gives him balance overall. As far as the mid and upper level management - I think some of them absolutely deserve to be in their positions, but some of them do not and were just given titles bc of how long they have been with the company. However, I know that CB is constantly trying to improve their structure, etc.
Pros
one of the best reasons to work at careerbuilder is the entrepreneurial spirit. ideas for business innovations, from new products/services or process improvements, are welcomed and recognized. there's even a competition that rewards employees for the best ideas. it's a great place to begin your sales career as there is a proven methodology/intense focus on training and measurement. executives and management is very accessible.
Cons
some people can get frustrated by the lack of infrastructure--can have a start-up feel as resources have to be earned.
Advice to Senior Management
continue to fuel innovation and balance ratio of reps to customers so we can build on our success.
Pros
the technology was excellent and the training was top notch
Cons
quota's too high in certain markets
commission not high enough
Advice to Senior Management
be more hands on with the team
Pros
Great benefits, pay if you do well, strong leadership at the C Level, sales trips & plenty more incentives!
Cons
If you aren't doing well, you won't have a job for long. A lot of people complain about this but I think it's completely expected!
Advice to Senior Management
There have been a ton of improvements in the last year. Keep doing what you're doing & evolving with the industry. Great job!
Pros
Advancement opportunities, great leadership, flexibility, strong values, innovation in the industry, customer service, ability to travel, recognition, forward thinking, etc
Cons
Back in the day, it used to be known for higher turnover, but that has changed as the company has elevated itself to #1 in the industry
Advice to Senior Management
None at this time.... ....

Fast paced, new challenges, interesting work
Cons
No work-life balance, not much income opportunity unless you are in sales
Advice to Senior Management
Show a little love to your non-sales folks

Focused on training
Lots of advancement opportunity
Creative solutions to sell to clients
Adapting as industry changes
Cons
Tough sales goals, but reachable with hard work
Internal communication can be rough
Sometimes rolls things out and then figures it out afterwards (not always a bad idea)
Advice to Senior Management
Keep it up - it is a pleasure to work here
Pros
Great pay and benefits
Great work/life balance
Lots of travel and disciplined freedom
Incredible incentives
Support for career development
Fun, young professional environment
Cons
Tendencies to micromanage
Hard to balance busy work with smart work
Sales can be a tough gig - lots of repetition and rejection - must have tough skin
Advice to Senior Management
Be open to hiring new managers from outside the company when there is significant changes in leadership. At times, it felt like a boys club and everyone could really benefit from fresh outside perspectives.
Pros
This job at Careerbuilder consisted of some of the most extensive sales and customer service training you can get at the entry-level and get paid for it. The training for their sales program lasted 2 weeks and was very detailed to adequetely prepare me for what I would encounter over the phones. The first few days are scary, but as soon as you get past that, it's smooth sailing. They have great benifits and fun events as well!
Cons
There are very tough goals set and requirements to be reached everyday. They expect you to make a minimum of 120 cold calls every day and be on the phone for at least 2 hours. This is easy at first, but once you begin doing the more important part, selling, it is tougher to make all of the phone calls and close deals. Some of the managers have unrealistic goals, but if you follow the formula, it should work out.
Advice to Senior Management
As the sales reps become more experienced, they should be allowed to have more lax goals as long as the money is there. The main goal should be to make sure the money is there, if it is, maybe back off a bit. If not, then the question should be asked, "where's your activity?"
Pros
1. Great benefits
2. Great work environment
3. Good pay if you work hard enough to hit your numbers
Cons
1. I have been blessed with great managers, but I have heard of others not carign for theirs.
2. Pretty strict activity requirements (dials, appts set etc.) Could be like that at all sales firms, I don't know.
Advice to Senior Management
No real complaints or advice. Like I said I have been blessed with great management that is always there to remove obstacles for me.
