I have been working at Carestream Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good career growth -I have been given plenty of opportunities. The same has happened to others around me that deliver results
Good salary - The company definitely pays to get good people
Challenging work - My work has always been challenging
GREAT people - People I have worked with over the years have been outstanding

    Cons

Rochester -the city is just tanking
Needs a face-lift: Although the Verona Street Building have been almost entirely upgraded (only one floor left) there is still a lot work to do at the Ridge Road manufacturing building. It really can use some make up

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Concentrate in the longer term not only on the next quarter.

I have been working at Carestream Health full-time

    Pros

Carestream offers good benefits compared to other companies in Rochester. They are also competitive with how much they pay for quality employees. The projects are challenging and are great for those that want to excel in the medical field.

    Cons

The food in the cafe at the different locations is ok but does not compete with other companies in Rochester. The overall workspace is outdated and needs a to be fresh in order to look attractive to new employees.

I have been working at Carestream Health full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Carestream is behind several of the largest healthcare IT installations in the world that feature Picture Archiving and Communications Systems (PACS) for managing medical images and radiology information. The company’s IT architecture is in use at some of the most well-known HMOs, independent healthcare networks, and regional and national healthcare systems.

    Cons

    I don't have a con. I posted a recommendation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decide what will really move the needle for our products and customers, and act as a team. And don’t be afraid to disagree with our customers. They don’t always know what they need, and their requests might not be in our company’s (or product’s) best interest.

I worked at Carestream Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great team at lower levels.. Hard workers are all that is left after years of eliminating lower 10% each year..

    Cons

Upper management is clueless. Operates on quarterly bonus, to quarterly bonus mentality.
Retired after 35 plus years with Kodak / Carestream... Would have been nice to at least get an email from upper management thanking for service... got nothing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Can't get your executive quarterly bonuses without someone in the lower ranks doing a good job for the company

I have been working at Carestream Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Interesting products
    Knowledgeable workforce
    Good salary and benefits
Most of the workers are dedicated but are put off by the lack luster management.

    Cons

Too much development work for existing work force in Rochester.

Off shoring software development to China has resulted in poor quality software which places additional work on the Rochester workforce.

Facilities leave a lot to be desired (Bldg 214)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The morale problems began when Kevin Hobert became CEO. He needs to step down for the organization to flourish.

Management needs to learn that they do not have the size workforce to develop all the products that they would like. They need to learn to live within their means.

I have been working at Carestream Health full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good. They keep the place looking good, with periodic makeovers of the carpets, interior decor, etc. Cafeteria food OK, opens early. Some employees are smart and worth working with. The actual work can be quite interesting. Strong HR and Marketing organizations.

    Cons

Managers can be incredibly cruel, to the point of psychotic. Beware managers who ask you to set "stretch" objectives at the beginning of the year, then claim credit (and bonuses) for them at the end of the year, leaving you with only an attaboy. Employees extremely paranoid, afraid of co-workers ratting on them, or managers berating them for taking a break or working less than 10 hours a day (this is a white-collar environment?). Cafeteria food expensive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Enjoy your management salary and private indoor parking garage. There is no hope. I'm too lazy too quit, but everyone else, get out while you can.

I have been working at Carestream Health full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

great R&D Teams and core teams. upper management is not always aligned or easy to communicate with but usually listen when you make a point. The quality group is striving to really change the culture to have a positive, continuous improvement, quality focus mindset and it is starting to catch on.

    Cons

Direct supervisor does not believe women should be in the workplace. Overall there is still some turnover that needs to take place in some areas of management (and other pockets) from the transition of Kodak to CSH (owned by Onex).
