You will never meet better people

    Store Manager (Current Employee)

ProsCaribou hires a personality type that is outgoing and friendly, and the friendships I made with my coworkers are ones that will last a lifetime. There is a significant amount of training provided for management that is valuable when moving into other fields, both similar and unrelated. While employed, Caribou will take good care of you as long as you play by their clearly laid out rules

ConsUpper Management is strong but DM turnover is high and largely unmonitored so frequently, DMs go on power trips because their decisions are going unchecked. Multiple managers did not follow company guidelines and offered promotions and rewards that were never given. Internal promotions are "preferred" but hard to get and hard oftentimes getting the promotion involves doing the job you want for months before your pay reflects the change in your duties.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe "people" people. Have tough conversations even when they are not going to be pleasant. Be honest and open, don't just say you're honest and open.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

    Long hours, but decent pay.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat team and the product is great. Get a lot of room to use and implement your own marketing ideas.

ConsUpper management lack of communication and really poor distribution of product. The standards and guidelines are not clearly given to you.

A nice place to meet people, but poor wages/potential

Team Member (Former Employee) West Bloomfield, MI

ProsNice place to meet people. Customers are usually regulars and are friendly. An easy job you can kind of zone out at and just grind through your shift.

ConsDepending on your manager/shift supervisor, they can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Tensions can often get very high. Early morning shifts are usually a nightmare with long line, demanding customers, and fighting through sleep.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your team members with some respect and dignity. They're often times the backbone of a shift and frequently doing more work than the shift supervisor.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Great Workplace; Really strives to meet mission everyday!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsIt really is the Community Place we Love. Plus working for an intimate retail company such as Caribou allows you to see how the work you are doing in the office is paying off in the field. Senior management seem personally invested into their employees well being.

ConsThere seems to be little upward mobility in some positions and communication/initiatives across departments could use some work.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great first job but mindless work wears you out real fast

Shift Supervisor (Current Employee) Saint Paul, MN

ProsGreat job to enter the work force, flexible scheduling (great for students), team building, fast promotions, fast paced, good health benefits, free caffeine

ConsAmy's Blend (impossible sales goals for an extremely flawed cause), BOGOs (buy one get one free) they work you like a dog and generally have bounce back coupon for even more BOGO, immature managers and coworkers (depending on the store), high job turnover, low wages

Advice to Senior ManagementModify Amy's Blend (medium roast, reasonable sales goals, more than 10%), no bounce back coupons, invest time in finding good managers, create pathway for store employees to move over to corporate, build employees work ethic
