    Inconsistent Hours
Measly raises not reflective of performance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire competent managers, so the team members/barista's don't have to do all the training.

I have been working at Caribou Coffee full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great Company Culture. Comprehensive training program.

    Cons

Poor pay and very high turn over. It is not fun to be training/working with all new employees all the time. The work life balance is off, especially for the store managers. They say they want you to have a balance but it can take over. They say they want you to go home if your sick but it is really not possible for coverage.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think having some sort of incentives in place for working for an extended period of time. Maybe close a few more stores and focus on a few. Pay your employees more so you don't have to spend so much on training. Create more of a family that stays for a long time.

    Pros

Free half pound of coffee a week, free shift drink every shift. All the drinks you can make while nobody is looking.

    Cons

Poor management, draconian corporate policies that are thankfully not usually followed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay people more, and maybe you won't have 75% annual turnover.

I have been working at Caribou Coffee part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

If you are a coffee drinker, this might be a great place to work! You get free coffee while working, and it's fun to make drinks that people think are delicious! You get a free half pound of coffee a week as well as a free drink every time you work. They really care about the community at large and finding ways to contribute both time and resources. Caribou cares about the quality of their coffee as well as the ethics behind attaining their coffee which I really appreciate. The products they do sell are of high quality.

    Cons

Depending on store, many employees come in and out which means the store teams are always changing. This can provide added stress when there is always an employee getting trained at the store. There is also a lot of pressure to sell pounds of coffee, and it can annoy customers who do not brew any at home. It always seems like there's always another goal to reach and not too much celebrating when goals are hit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest a little more in your current employees so that you do not have to spend so much time and energy always training new people because the current employees are on their way to becoming former employees.

I worked at Caribou Coffee part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The customers were always the best part about working here. Meeting a variety of people was great. Free shift drinks and discounts of coffee didn't hurt either.

    Cons

There was a lack of support from management, and inconsistent information regarding promotions. I worked at a few locations and pending the manager, shifts were not always staffed properly.

    Pros

Customers are wonderful and it extremely fast paced.

    Cons

Long hours with increased responsibilities for less pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire managers who are not performing rather than changing the pay structure for the entire company and taking money out of your quality employees pockets.
