    Pros

Cameradarie and great leadership in the services business. As a team achieving together and delivering to customers with a sense of pride.

    Cons

Group failing to invest in systems and poor outsourcing arrangements for support services -eating into management time and damaging employee ability/engagement. Low or no pay rises are standard practice.

I have been working at Carillion full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Good working environment, good team, independent working.

    Cons

Extremely poor IT outsourced to India, Poor payroll department also outsourced to India that leads to salary errors every month. System has setup for auto payments but on overtime have met many people who have waited upto half a year to get paid.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training on managers for payroll for Fusion would reduce many of the problems.
Remove India from the IT as currently its costing a fortune on wasted time for people within the UK relying on them.

Former Employee - Senior Facilities Manager in Newcastle upon Tyne, England (UK)

I worked at Carillion full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked with a great FM team based out of the Leeds office, professional and engaging.

    Cons

Facilities Service's contract work offers limited scope for creativity within the companies taking on the service. Don't work for organizations like this or on client specific contracts like they manage and expect to be totally fulfilled with your job if you're someone who loves to think outside the box. These organizations exist as an option for other companies to outsource their none core staff and reduce overheads. If you enjoy being on the lowest rung of a ladder and being a servant to a bigger corporate behemoth then knock yourself out - this is the place for you. (Among many like them)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicating where you are as an organization and understanding your current growth spurts will be key to retaining a great team. Getting away from basic spreadsheet management tools and trialling new software tools that can improve a clients access to key facilities and real estate data will secure the company as a leader in its field.

I worked at Carillion full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the leadership team in the FM division where great to work.

    Cons

As a business, failure to invest in the tools to do the job made delivering a professional service to the client very hard to achieve.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Speak with the teams on the front line. Find out what your contract teams are signing up for and ensure the customer facing teams have the industry leading tools to deliver a service you'd be proud of.

Current Employee - Assistant Facilities Manager in London, England (UK)

I have been working at Carillion full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The working day is only 9 hours long (until you realise you were so busy today you havent actually managed to get anything that you planned done yet) so you have to work an additional 4 hours daily.

    Cons

Management always bang on about the company values but in 4 years not once has a member of any of the senior management teams I've worked with actually worked to them. Pay is shocking and inconsistant across the board. No real training other than to meet contractual requirements. Career development is apalling. Promotions and candidates for new internal positions are frequently decided before interviews have even taken place. Expected to work far beyond what is reasonable without reward. Company claims it values its staff then outsources its HR overseas. IT is based overseas. Payroll is... Yep you guessed it, overseas. The Great Debate staff survey is twisted to highlight the positive points with the negative ones such as pay and recognition missed out of the sumary completely. Not a company I would ever recommend to anyone, friend or foe. One of the worst places I have ever had the misfortune to be caught up in career wise.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your junior management and other staff members. Listen to the Great Debate. Why do you think turnout in 2014 was so low... Because you never do anything about the results! Spend some time to get back onto the front line. Understand what the business is doing and what needs improving. Talk to your staff. Stop blaming the recession on not awarding a pay increase year after year. Make your staff feel valued. Get HR, IT and the rest of Carillions outsourced serviced back in the UK. Ive never seen the CEO yet I get regular emails from him commenting on how fantastic everything is with a little bit of health and safety thrown in for good measure. I get enough emails thanks without Richards dross cloging up my inbox.

    Pros

Good Team of technicians, contract was stable some good work was done, communication was getting better between management, client and technicians on the ground.

    Cons

Very bad HR and senior management, blame game and lack of communication.no pay increases only bonuses for management.Typical English company working in Ireland,Ireland is the poor relation in every respect,English Technicians were treated a lot better from their HR.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The next time you get an FM contract in Ireland (ROI)Build up your client base to more than one client.

I worked at Carillion as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

Good team spirit, senior management took an interest in understanding the issues impacting day to day deliver

    Cons

Work-life balance wasn't always great although recognition was given for the extra hours and effort put in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tine-off policies were very good in the subsidiary I worked for,. Career opportunities across the group weren't easy to find (although this was 2010 so might have changed)
