    Do your homework before excepting a position.

    Tax Staff Associate (Former Employee)

    ProsIntroduction to Public Accounting, Large regional firm with a good book of business. Many good people with a lot of skills. Good locations and state of the art technology. Plenty of in house training. I was very thankful to have had the opportunity to work for the firm.

    ConsOn the Tax side of the house performance feedback and communication are not very efficient, employee morale is often lacking, and there is not much of an effort or interest in teaching entry level people the skills. There is more of a "throw it at them" type mentality. Like many firms CCR is in cost cuttting mode and employee benefits have suffered. Bonus program and mandatory saturdays need to be revamped. There was a lot of wasted hours sitting in the office w/ no work on Saturdays. HR dept is over worked as there is over 200 employees and one HR person. There is also an obvious double culture and as much as they promote work life balance, they really don't encourage it.

    Advice to Senior ManagementTrain your Seniors and managers how to mentor junior people and encourage open lines of communication.
