Pros – I love the staff I work with. Everyone here is like family to me. It is a fun atmosphere and everyone works well together.
Cons – Honestly I have not been here long, but I have not ran into anything yet that has bothered me.

Former Employee – worked at Carlson Hotels full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – I worked in the corporate office in Minnetonka for Carlson Hotels Worldwide. Nice, hard working people amongst the worker bees. I gained valuable experience about the hospitality industry. I also worked with outside vendors who were fabulous and remain great contacts.
Cons – The management changed almost quarterly. As soon as you figured out what was expected and got a handle on projects, the VP was fired and you had to start anew. Also, they hired people that had hotel experience but weren't good managers in a corporate environment. Also, the pay was very low. I didn't realize until I left after eight years there how little they paid.
Advice to Senior Management – HIre some normal people to manage the departments and there won't be so much turnover. Also quit relying on the European personnel to run things here in the US - the markets aren't the same.

Pros – Exciting industry, challenging environment, good benefits, ambitious goals, promotes good work-life balance, cafeteria on-site, employee discount, good leadership.
Cons – Difficult to be promoted. Some departments/teams are not as valued or recognized as others. Recognition does not always go to all who deserve it. A lot of workplace politics (as with most large companies). At times, departments do not collaborate together well.
Advice to Senior Management – Offer more opportunities for people to be promoted and recognized (especially those in non-operations roles).

Former Employee – worked at Carlson Hotels
Pros – The people who work there and loyal and dedicated no matter their surroundings. The benefits and compensation was competative with other industries. Some senior leaders were effective and attentive to their business units. When the company was being run by the Carlson family, it was a family atmosphere and a happy place to be associated with.
There are few other good reasons to to associated with Catlson because the entire company has changed and the President of the hotels in the Americas- Jay Witzel is behind the times. He should retitre and let someomne who is on the cutting edge of changes that are needed take over the helm.
Cons – Poor promotional opportunities and my personal senior management (VP Franchise Services) was a poor manager, communicator and person.The franchise hotels and their management will not follow Carlson blindly into the future.
Advice to Senior Management – Get to know the individuals and their real strengths and not how well they answer YES to your demands.

Pros – It has no advantages to join .
Cons – Its a waste of time and careers to join its branch in Jaipur and India named at Country Inn and Suites By CARLSON JAIPUR .It has GM's - MATHUR and Management which care nothing about anything , will throw you out if you question there policy, cut your PL money , cut your CL and will punish you by asking to leave department . They will replace you by half paid person and ask you to leave .
THE COMPANY NOT CARE ABT EMPLOYEE'S AND there family's , they are stopping the payment of people and harassing them .No promotion/no care/worst company .
Advice to Senior Management – They should care abt the employee and there benefits .

Pros – its my pleasure that i m working with carlson hotels as here i came to know about the more and more things and services of the hotel industries. another than this way of working in carlson hotels is very good and encouraging.
Cons – in every hotels there are downsides so in carlson hotels also well i have no problems with these downsides whereas i love to overcome them with my team.
Advice to Senior Management – Always motivate your junior staff and try to solve any problem which comes in any department as a team

Pros – Colleagues are nice bunch of people, not much office politics as compared to other american company
Cons – company leadership at the time wasnt very strong, marketing budget is very small as compared to other hotel groups.

Pros – open minded company ready to take your ideas when ever you give. employee focussed and takes good care of the staff.
Cons – nothing much till the time i have joined very fast and effect communication on all the ways ie upward, side ways and down the line. very free environment to work with.
Advice to Senior Management – nothing much as they really take care of the staff very well.

Current Employee – been working at Carlson Hotels
Pros – The guests you meet are amazing. Depending on what type of team you have, everyone works together to complete tasks because we believe in the future of the company.
Cons – You can meet some rude people, as you will with any level of customer service.
Advice to Senior Management – Spend a little more time getting to know each employee, but other than that, it's a great place to work. I apreciate everything that has been done as a team.
