    great thinkers, old tech

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    Pros- good people
    - good client contacts
    - good name in the industry

    Cons- compensation continues to shrink
    - little opportunity for growth/change
    - client services support continues to be reduced

Advice to Senior Managementseems top heavy right now, would be good to streamline into one sales force. need to improve technology offerings to better match thought leadership - right now we're out of sync. we can talk the talk, but can't walk the walk very cost-effectively or efficiently.

    Life at Carlson Marketing

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsTHere are a variety of projects and clients. Many talent people, but much confusion with frequent changing of management, cultural practices and more.

ConsCarlson went through multiple levels of management and layoffs -- sometimes making huge mistakes with the people and departments they decided to ax people and then reverse their own misakes Many long lasting fifedoms also still exist at the corporate and regional levels.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere have been too many legacy people (who have been there 20+ years) still running things the way they want to -- leaving litle or no room for new ideas and innovation.

    ok

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

Prospeople are very nice and hours are easy relatively speaking, salaries can be generous and there is a lot of communication

Consnot the most innovative place, trying to change this, however... there is a siloed mentality and not enough integration in my opinion

Advice to Senior Managementneed to do a better job integrating the various groups also fostering innovation would be a valuable endeavor for mgmt

    I loved working at Carlson

    Creative (Current Employee)

ProsAmazing, talented and funny people. A serious, "what if..." and "Why don't we..." attitude. Open to ideas.

ConsSome people are not so good at communicating. Passive aggressive. Just say what you think. Don't whine, make it better.

Advice to Senior ManagementWeed out the people who don't care about the work. They are poison.

    Extremely outdated company.

    Client Services (Current Employee)
    Toronto, ON (Canada)

ProsIf you like corporate jobs, this place is your typical corporation. Usual corporate benefit packages and annual bonuses.

ConsPoor Management of clients and staff. Also slow in adapting to new technologies and trends. There is also a severe lack of cooperation between departments.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire more knowledgeable and capable management staff and acquire an external creative boutique instead.

    Gladly will be leaving soon

    Technical Lead (Current Employee)
    Mississauga, ON (Canada)

ProsYou get to work around a lot of nice people and the office is close to a lot of the main roads.

ConsSeniur management always put personal politics in front of the success of projects and promoting good people. the people who are the personal friends of the management are the only ones that get any of the recognizing. I know of a lot of the people that are fed up with this thing and are now looking to leave including me. Bringing in the new things in technology is very hard too because the management does not get educated on new areas.

Advice to Senior ManagementIn good busness you get and reward good people, and you do not promote or put-down people because of personal politics or race or religions. Also the learning of yourself does not stop because you get in management. Try to go to some seminar to learn the new things to do better technology leadership.
