    Enjoyed working for Carnival

Guest Logistics Agent (Former Employee) Miami, FL

ProsGreat team! Eveyone loves their job and the company; you can tell by the way interact with guests. Carnival gives alot of opportunity and I've seen first hand through co-workers and friends whom now hold corporate positions.

ConsSince my position was located at the Port of Miami the distance to my home and the salary was a challenge.

    Overworked and underpaid

Youth Staff (Onboard) (Former Employee) New Orleans, LA

ProsThe only pros were that you get to travel (if you have an awesome itinerary), your room and board is free, and that you get to work with people from all around the world.

    Cons- underpaid
    - over worked (up to 72 hours a week)
    - no full days off your entire contract
    - harder working positions get paid less than the people who don't work as hard.
    - the food for the crew is terrible and un-healthy
    - cruise benefits don't kick in until you've completed and entire contract
    - extremely small living corridors and sharing a cabin.

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees like people rather than ATM machines.

    Senior Accountant Carnival Cruise Lines

Senior Accountant (Current Employee) Doral, FL

ProsThey try to make it fun environment with give-aways and fun celebration of different holidays and things going on in the company. A lot of opportunity for learning diversity. Also has a gym and day care onsite.

ConsAlthough there is opportunity to move to different departments I have seen limited upward promotions. Once you start there the salary increases are minimal even if you did a good job. A lot of hours in certain departments with a lot of turnover.

Advice to Senior ManagementHigher raises for loyal employees. More upward promotions. Limit the number of hours for better work to life balance in departments that need it.

Typical Corporate Department, Chasing Tails and Talking the Talk

Senior Accountant (Former Employee) Doral, FL

ProsInteresting challenges sometimes, with accounting for unique travel industry situations.

ConsManagement of the department is very closed and political. This department seems to annoy all other departments within Corporate and Carnival; therefore, imagine how annoying working within the department is. Micromanagement will be talked about as if it doesn't happen here, but it is a big problem. Many of the department's initiatives seem to lack a purpose.

Advice to Senior ManagementLiberate your team members to be innovative and to contribute to the management of the department. This department is one with an "open door policy" that has the feel of a locked door.

Financial Analyst (Current Employee) Doral, FL

    ProsGym on site
    Good food in Cafeteria
    Interesting Projects
Lot's of exposure to upper management and lot's of data to play with

ConsPerformance reviews graded on an average
    Very slow promotion process
    Bonus is dog #$%@
Data tables are really complex and difficult to validate

Advice to Senior ManagementBe able to do the work you assign to your subordinates and have some understanding of the difficulties. Reward exceptional performance and don't grade on an average. Don't dick around over stupid stuff. Be more goal oriented.
