Good entry level opportunity with the ability to earn more than a lot of jobs that require degrees.

I have been working at Carnival Corporation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Entry level position with an opportunity to earn up to $70K - $75K. You have to be able to work any schedule between 7 am and 2 am with one weekend shift per week, but the call center does a shift bid twice per year. Your shift bid ranking is based on your productivity versus seniority. If you're good at sales you don't have to wait until someone resigns, retires or gets fired before you can work your desired shift. Health insurance and other benefits are pretty good in comparison to other companies in South Florida.

    Cons

Getting approved for PTO can be difficult during certain times of the year due to the nature of it being a call center position. Enter your PTO as in advance as possible. If you're waitlisted choose other days if possible otherwise your original request for PTO may come and go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management truly seems to care and wants to see their employee succeed. There are too many negative employees that have been here forever and complain about everything especially sales quotas. It is a sales job of course there will be sales quotes. Duh! My advice to management is to get rid of your cancerous employees. They make the environment unpleasant for those that actually want to be here and make money.

I worked at Carnival Corporation full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Wonderful benefits package especially healthcare, great employee cruise discounts, great co-workers, fun outside events.

    Cons

I didn't think the PVP role at CCL was going to end up being a telemarketing job that I shouldn't have taken. I was sold on the idea that making bookings was easy and calling "valued past guests" would be a joy...but it was a complete disappointment. The hours do not provide any kind of work/life balance, the sense of morale is mixed, guests are very rude and think it's okay to treat you poorly. I do not suggest taking the PVP job unless you are an amazing salesperson and want this to be your career...and that can mean working 80-90 hours a week until you reach the Elite or Flex schedules.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop giving in to guests who do not appreciate reduced deposits, treat shipboard personnel poorly or cater to only families! I do think the PVP role needs to be changed and be a worthwhile position.

I worked at Carnival Corporation full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Everyone was like family. Great cruise benefits. Open door policy with upper management. The pay was very good, especially if you were exceeding your monthly goals. Helping customers plan the very best vacation ever.

    Cons

Hours were a bit long, so family would feel a bit neglected from time to time. Not everyone was allowed to work from home. Sometimes a sense of low morale lingered in the air. There were also some cases of favoritism that existed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The rookies need better in depth training.

I have been working at Carnival Corporation full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

If you can survive open favoritism, you may earn a living, but it won't be easy.
Corporate culture has been on a downward spiral since senior management changes.
Sales skills have nothing to do with success.
Being part of the secret alliance is.

    Cons

    Favoritism
    Discrimination
    Revolving door personnel
    Unmotivated middle management
    Dead and buried marketing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Its too late to right this ship. You've earned your reputation in the travel industry.
Guess its time to follow your managers out the door. Six figure management so far removed from working class employees it feels like two different companies.

    Cons

Extremely Corporate, Zero flexibility in the job, No challenge or changes from day to day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

None, the job is what it is. Consider less corporatism in the management of PVP's.
