Pros
Fun shows, great experience, live sound in FOH theatre and concert venues, as well as support and the ability to expand into other avenues.
Cons
Expect 70 to 80 hour weeks on the mid to large size vessels, with limited time off. You never really get to go home, you have questionable living qaurters with a roommate, poor food etc. If you can handle that then go for it.
Advice to Senior Management
It is my belief that someone in the postion of entertainment technician deserves a better life than carnival offers its employees. SIngle cabins, access to internet and better food would go a long way. Other than that the actual job is just fine, its a great experience and the shows are fun to operate.
Pros
Good exposure to all levels of management across the company.
Cons
Extra hours culture, but is rewarded.
Advice to Senior Management
Management are very good and open with all, you just have to be willing to pursue.
Pros
Large company, name recognition, decent benefits
Cons
Company cares only about what the shareholders want. No loyalty to employees. Little room for moving upward, company seems to go outside to promote
Advice to Senior Management
Take stock in your employees they made you what you are. Many long time employees have left the company over the past couple of years.
Pros
Fun atmosphere, great manager, amazing employees. Great work/life balance.
Cons
Little communication between upper management and lower levels. Do not see an opportunity for growth, unless you put in numerous years of work. Very corporate and highly structure.
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate the goals and visions of your department. Give specialist more of a challenge and higher level thinking.
Pros
meeting new people, better pay
Cons
hour change, have to work faster
Advice to Senior Management
more customer service
Pros
_cruise discounts
_paid time off and sick time after 90 days
_health insurance
Cons
_ poor management
_unrealistic rules about phone manner and time allowed off the phone in between calls
_treat employees unfairly
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your phone operators in the call center with more respect for what they do- they are the point of contact for Carnival and Guests.
Pros
IT and other support services were quite competent and very supportive of client-facing staff.
good training program, people respect each other.
A lot of good diversity related events are offered
Cons
Enhance knowledge sharing across teams.
The firm is going through a lot of change to enhance its competitiveness and efficiency
Advice to Senior Management
CCL presents a good challenging work environment, ample opportunity to excel. Compensation and raises could be betterKeep up the "fun" atmosphere.
Pros
1. Friendliness and helpfulness of staff
2. Laid back atmosphere
3. Team oriented
Cons
1. Lack of efficiency in certain situations
Pros
Large, successful company - a leader in its industry. Very intelligent and dedicated workforce. Team spirit. Much of this may depend on the department and the specific department head. Good benefits. Many brands under the corporate umbrella which opens additional opportunities.
Cons
Salary is generally low; exceptions are for professional positions and in Corporate (as opposed to the Cruise line). In Corporate, when you work with the different brands, you find that they have different benefits.
Pros
I got to perform music 6 days a week for no more than 5 hours a day, leaving 19 hours to do mostly what ever I wanted. Meeting new people was great, and I had my own room with a person who cleaned up every day.
Cons
Performing that 4th to 5th hour really wears on a singer's voice when you do it 6 days a week. My voice was working properly only 4 days out of the week, and I had to adjust a set list to hit the notes.
