I have been working at Carnival Corporation (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, stand-by cruises, the full spectrum! They have an FSA including childcare, pet insurance, health, the works! At the corporate office they even have childcare, Toastmasters, and framers markets! Best of all, if you happen to work for Carnival Cruise Line instead of Carnival Corp, most of the the jobs are telework! The leadership is phenomenal and truly cares about their employees, especially in the supporting departments. And you are given two weeks of sick time and three weeks of vacation every year on January, 1st!

    Cons

The pay leaves much lacking if you work for Carnival Cruise Line. Their sales people make almost minimum wage, although they have probably the best commission pay and step increases in the business. Their support personnel don't make good money. Wages start at about $12 an hour, and that's the trade-off for getting to work from home. Lastly, in the supporting departments (Weddings, E-Solutions, Diamond Desk, Groups, Special Services, etc) it is next to impossible to use the PTO you are given... And if you can it's usually only for a day or two at a time.

    Advice to Management

Improve the process for PTO. My separent only allows one employee at a time, so planning for a week long stand-by or comp cruise is next to impossible.

I worked at Carnival Corporation full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

HQ in Doral has a great cultural diversity. While I was employeed there were so many opportunities to serve the community and bring much success to volunteering and raising money for the United Way thru different venues. The work environment was excellent. I truly enjoyed working at Carnival Headquarters. BIG Pro you get two free cruises a year for you and whoever fits in your cabin.

    Cons

The salary they start at almost min. wage.

I worked at Carnival Corporation part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It's a great environment to meet wonderful people from all over the world.

    Cons

For the record: I loved the people I worked with "in the trenches". BUT! There is no advancement to move from part-time short of someone retiring, quitting or dying. The schedule is set to make it difficult to have a real full-time job elsewhere, nor are they accomodating when you need to take of personal business that would effect your livelihood. After all you ARE part-time without benefits working 12 hours per week to start.

    Advice to Management

Be more flexible and treat staff like humans. Most of all, consider paying a living wage.

I worked at Carnival Corporation (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Contract was fair, and benefits they take good care of their employee and crew members in the ship. The accomadation and food were satisfactory. If you ever cruising try carnival cruise ship the most enjoyable and fun that you will not forget, it good for relaxing and vacation the crew was marvelous they will treat you as queen and king.

    Cons

Sometimes the booking in the airlines was some sort of delayed, I mean the schedule was not accurate may be the faults of the airlines.

    Advice to Management

Management from the office and in the ship was very organized. They take care of the crew problem as well the guest.

I worked at Carnival Corporation full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The money is good, the environment is fun and the people are for the most part great.

    Cons

Horrible hours and will require you to work unpaid overtime. They force you into staying late and will make you feel like crap if you have to do things like pick your child up from a sitter.

    Advice to Management

It's becoming very obvious that you have favorite's who you filter the "better" leads to.
