I have been working at Carroll University as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to create new courses, autonomous work environment, great people, beautiful campus, family friendly, great resources for students

    Cons

Not much support for new programs, not much opportunity to move up, too many adjuncts, too many cooks in the kitchen syndrome at times

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to develop new programs by giving more support, resources, funding to its inception rather than making a course and thinking that is enough to attract students

I have been working at Carroll University full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Being a resident assistant on campus gives you the opportunity to take control and learn on the go at Carroll University. Staffs change from year to year and you may get a new boss but how fast you form bonds with your staff members and build relationships is a great thing. The Area Directors give you more freedom of how you use your time which is great being college students and having changing schedules all the time.

    Cons

There should be better lines of communication between the Area Directors and the Resident Assistants. There were times where you needed information as fast as possible and you'd get nothing for a few hours and when the time came and have been talked to there was no need anymore.

I worked at Carroll University part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very manageable with a full course load and social time, very satisfying to work with students, set your own hours

    Cons

Very consistent paperwork with very little satisfaction in doing it, can't work other jobs simultaneously due to student worker limitations

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set up what each employee actually needs in terms of meetings and paperwork - one size does not fit all

I have been working at Carroll University full-time

    Pros

Carroll is very good to their student workers. While employed, the professional staff I worked with helped me to grow as a student and in the field I want to go into. They were extremely accomodating and flexible.

    Cons

They are very particular about hours put in.

Former Employee - Laundry Room Attendant

I worked at Carroll University part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Very flexible hours, jobs allowed you to do your homework while working. The jobs that they have you do are not strenuous.

    Cons

No good chance for advancement since there it seems that favorites are selected as supervisors. Occasionally got crap from coaches when laundry doesn't get done in a timely manner that they want it done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a little more organized and pay people what they're worth, not what everyone else gets.

    Positive Outlook
