I have been working at Carter's part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The work place has a fun and friendly atmosphere. There are plenty of ways to learn and access to materials needed to learn. There is room for advancement at a pretty quick pace as the company is ever expanding. The schedules are pretty flexible, even with the black out dates. Everyone is team oriented! Great job if you are looking to pick up some extra hours on the side.

    Cons

Unless you are in management, this a more of a part time secondary job. The pay is decent, but depending on your customer flow, they may not have a lot of hours to give out. If you end up at a low volume store as a part timer, you will need a second job. Even though there are many ways to learn, at times it can be very over whelming. There are a lot of policies and procedures to follow for just about everything that goes on in the store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on all the associates, even the temps, in regards to the HiFVE service, so that the store can make more money and get more hours! Also, there needs to be a stronger anti-theft tactic. Sometimes the HiFIVE service isn't enough.

    Pros

Good boss, good money, good vacation time. It's great to see the excitement in kids faces when they get lots of new close for school.

    Cons

Recession hit retail hard. Last year has seen a slow recovery. There does seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel.

    I worked at Carter's full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great salary and benefits, wonderful people to work with, amazing new corporate office, able to advance from within, matches donation contributions, great volunteer opportunities

    Cons

The work life balance is difficult to achieve due to the long hours during busy seasons. This department can be stressful if you are not organized and able to multi-task

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I believe that there should be more training from the top down so that all levels within the department are aware of their position and their manager's position so that if there is movement from within the company there will be an easy transition into the same role.

I worked at Carter's part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The job isn't hard, and the atmosphere is generally inviting. The people I worked with were nice. I didn't receive any benefits, but I was only part time, so that's expected. The company stands for excellent customer service, which is respectable.

    Cons

If you value your weekends, DO NOT work here. I worked at the Charlotte Premium Outlets Carter's/Osh-Kosh Side by Side. I had to work EVERY Saturday unless I requested off, and near the end, it was Saturday and Sunday. I have special circumstances that make working EVERY SINGLE WEEKEND very unsettling. The management is generally ok, but they stress PC (Preferred Customer) WAY TOO MUCH. I didn't get near enough hours. Almost every hour I worked was a weekend. Didn't even make enough to pay my car payment every two weeks.
