    Pros

40 hour work week or less. They value work life balance
Great Customers who love the product
Heritage company that has been around for 100 + years

    Cons

Disconnect from Higher up's to field as to what tasks can be handled on base payroll and low matrix hours without sacrificing customer experience.
You must be able to develop yourself to create forward movement for personal career growth.
Managers salary's are not competitive within the area making it harder to recruit top talent.

    Advice to Management

Increase base payroll matrix to accommodate higher traffic days or give each store operations hours to complete tasks such as stocking the sales floor.
Customer experience is a large part of our business invest in store level tools (pos updates, in store coupon for preferred customer) this will allow us to increase the positive experience at store level.

    I worked at Carter's full-time

    Pros

Got to interact with people from different conurties

    Cons

Not all managers are on the same page. Not enough support from upper management to get tasks done by deadlines for payroll. Too much work for the pay. Some customers are just plain rude.

    Advice to Management

Allocate hours to higher volume stores when big shipment comes in and to get tasks done by deadlines. FedEx shipping was more efficient compared to current delivery service

    Pros

Lots of employee engagement events (cookouts, pizza days, sample sales, etc)

    Cons

    Leadership is disorganized
    Work/life balance not an option
No assistance when struggling to keep up with the abundance of work

    Advice to Management

Listen to and help the employees when they are falling behind in their work. Keep good on your word to offer assistance. I was told that if my work became overwhelming, to speak up. When I did speak up, I was show down and told that "everyone has a lot of work and they are able to handle it". It made for a very frustrating and depressing work environment.

The best retail job I've ever had, but upper management is lacking.

    Pros

We get a ton of business at our store and tend to get good feedback from customers. My manager and assistant managers are great, they are understanding and flexible. There hasn't been a high rate of turnover, so everyone has been working there forever and we are all pretty close.

    Cons

Upper management (district and above) is fairly disorganized and inconsistent. Our district manager has changed several times in the 2 years I've worked here, and it's not always great getting the blowback from the company's drama.

    Advice to Management

Higher people who can consistently relate to employees who have their boots on the ground. If a higher up hasn't worked in low-level retail ever, then they aren't as straightforward about what they need from employees or how employees are meant to achieve necessary goals.

    Pros

Flexible hours - I can usually get the days off that I need
Great employees - Everyone is very friendly and helps you out if you need it
Employee Discount - only 25% but when they have an employee appreciation weekend it bumps up to 30% and it applies to clearance and doorbuster items which normal coupons don't apply to

    Cons

Call In shifts seem kind of pointless. They should just call employees if they're needed instead of having them call.
Can't really control it, but rude customers, especially when they argue about the store policy which us associates can't control. Or customers that walk in a few minutes before we lock the doors and then stay shopping (shutting off the music doesn't always hurry them up either)
Some days the store can be a complete disaster and it takes forever to recover.

    Advice to Management

Have a set schedule for the sales - the managers always seem to complain that they never know when sales are really going to end - sometimes they get extended.

    Cons

    Pros

As an employee and consumer, I can stand behind the product.
    The company pays well.

    Cons

The sale changes could be better organized.
    Open on thanksgiving day

    Advice to Management

More thought should be out into the sale changes; a lot of money is wasted on marketing. All upper management should work with their stores and get to know the dedicates staff
