    Pros

    A Pay check and insurance

    Cons

Unstable management, need to start over, need to recognize those that actually work, and get those that sit in heavy equipment with their weed gone. Guess the mentality is until someone gets seriously hurt, or worse-dead, then they'll do something! Could've been a good place to work, if the place worked....wonder if John Casella is aware these issues???

    Advice to Management

    Start over, new blood needed!

    Pros

Some of the people that worked for me were awesome. The front line workers should get more credit for what they do.

    Cons

No sense of teamwork among departments. No clear direction. Manage by fear mentality. No sense of security. Extremely high turnover and termination rate. Managers and Supervisors are overworked and expected to be available 24/7 to the point of exhaustion. Regional Safety Manager in the eastern region was an egotistical, megalomaniac, with a holier than though personality despite the blood on his own hands. Expect to be "thrown under the bus" and have no support.

    Advice to Management

Get over yourself.. Most managers are shallow, are defined by their title and have no idea how ridiculous they look....Donald.

I worked at Casella Waste Systems full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I was paid decent but not for what I did as it was FAR more stressful than working for Waste Management, Inc.

    Cons

Very rude upper management. They think they know everything when they all should just be replaced. Horrible decision making and they very much favor Operation staff over the Account and Controllers. Terrible place to be a Division Controller. You give your all and they crap all over you.

    Advice to Management

Clean house. Pay attention to who the REAL problems are... Operations. Have much more respect for your employees. Stop crapping all over the Division / District Controllers.

I have been working at Casella Waste Systems part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It is very simple. A trained ape could do this job. Boss buys lunch on Fridays. Not much else to note

    Cons

Nobody comes to work. Ever. "Working from home" is frequent, but none of these people can ever be reached. No one respects my coworker and I because we are younger. Making the bare minimum and doing someone else's job who is salaried with benefits for no reason. Wasteful if you ask me.

    Advice to Management

Know your employees and their jobs better. Know when your employees are working or "working from home". Respect employees enough to pay them fair wages.

I worked at Casella Waste Systems full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

you will get a check and all kinds of hours

    Cons

after ten years of working there i need time of for medical reason and went out on a FMLA. after my 12 weeks i need a couple more weeks of physical thearpy and was layed off and told to come back and reapply and i would have to start at a starting wage and benefits, they constantly push drivers to skip lunch breaks to keep the numbers looking good. and they also push you to do unsafe or even illegal things to make the customer happy no matter what and then if something happens its the drivers fault.

    Advice to Management

try to work more than 25 or 3o hours a week while making the drivers work 60. Try listening to employees and maybe buy some new equipment instead of 45000 pickups for the managment to haul there campers and boats around with. they need to cut there top managment and low managment by a third

I worked at Casella Waste Systems full-time

    Pros

You will receive a paycheck. There are some exceptional people working here, however they are the hourly employees.

    Cons

Casella pays its employees the bare minimum despite having extremely dedicated, hard working intelligent individuals working for them. The company allows management to make decisions concerning terminating an employee based on whether the manager 'likes' an individual not on the persons job performance. Casella has gone through an excessive amount of management changes which has caused confusion for employees because new management changes everything, even what worked. Employees don't know who they should report to.

    Advice to Management

Employees are often asked for what they need or what their thoughts are but it doesn't appear anyone ever actually listens. Dedicated, productive, and valuable employees are over looked and / or fired because they don't fit in some sort of 'mold'. Employees sacrifice personal time and work off the clock just to get the job done, maybe you should ask why.

    Pros

Dedicated employees, good benefits, and a passionate CEO.

    Cons

Top down management, employees feel they have no voice with minimal if any reward for their hard work and efforts, and leaders who are chosen because of who they know, not because they are the best fit.

    Advice to Management

Take some of the leadership advice you feed to your people. Put more effort in the selection process of your leaders so your hard working hourly employees can feel that pride they once had.
