I have been working at Cash America full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Customer interactions, 401k, locations,med, dental

    Cons

Inconsistency. Atlanta market managers would rather hire outside MT. Instead of developing internal prospects. I'm following their lead and taking my 10 years of service/exp. elsewhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop your people. Send a seasoned OPs Dir to ATL to restore Legacy shop standards. You would think PM aquired us and not the other way around.

I have been working at Cash America full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefit plans. The company has good professionals, and a lot of them have a lot of experience. HR has the correct experience, and the right attitude.

    Cons

Too much politics. The balance score card is such a disappointing evaluation. They tell you they are not going to give the highest score because they do not want to pay bonuses even if they are part of your hiring package. They say you can grow within the company, but the reality is that they don't have enough room to grow. There's a high turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote based on the knowledge, and experience of an employee and not based on favoritism. People are bored, and the work load should be more efficient.

    Pros

The pawn industry is fun and exciting. Something new everyday.

    Cons

There is so much responsibility involved in running a large shop like mine. They don't pay me what I am worth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We would get much higher quality employees and keep them longer if we payed better. Otherwise its a great company and a fun business.

I worked at Cash America full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Office culture is casual and friendly from the CEO down. You stay busy and things change everyday so there is a lot of variety. Pay was good, at least for me. There are a lot of people with over 10 years with the company which speaks highly of the culture.

    Cons

Cash America needs to get back to being a pawn company and quit experimenting with fringe lending products like payday loan and auto title. One of the core values is to "bring honor to the team" but there is no honor in taking a desperate persons car away to pay a debt. The IT department is way understaffed.

The yearly restructuring and culling of employees takes a huge toll on employee moral since almost any Friday could be your last.

I worked at Cash America full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The leadership is trustworthy and fair. You can count on their integrity in all actions. The leadership has vision and even after a stumble they pick themselves up and plan for the next home run. They value their management and non management employees and reward everyone.

    Cons

Like any company that is growing there are growing pains and the occasional bad egg in the bunch. But these are eventually removed.
They currently are doing some soul searching after the failed Mexico expansion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stay true to your integrity and never compromise. Stay on guard against bad actors that would hijack the core values that the company has stood for. Also foster the truth and open sharing culture that can guard against disasters in the making like the cashlinx system.

    Pros

Environment is great, the people you work with are really nice. At the store level management is very understanding and helpful when it came to training.

    Cons

not all the stores have good managers. Sometimes if you are lead you have to do everything yourself.

I worked at Cash America full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Reasonable hours, decent pay, great customer service culture, good training

    Cons

They change so much on a daily basis, it is hard for folks in the field to keep up. There is no consistency in anything they do. My first 8 years with the company were great, they lived their core values. The last 2, terrible. They are having high turnover, cutting payroll hours in shops. Has become a culture of every man for himself with back stabbing and no loyalty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You would do better as a company if you came up with some consistency rather than having knee jerk reactions to every little thing. Get back to your core values, it is what made you great. You are so far from them, it isn't even the same company I started with anymore.
