Great culture and most cutting edge company in the industry with limited opportunity for employee growth from within.

Media Specialist (Former Employee) Saint Petersburg, FL

ProsGreat work/life balance, fun company and business outlook is very promising.

ConsLow salaries and bonuses, unless you are part of the CLT (Catalina Leadership Team - top Execs), no room for growth from within, they hire for top positions outside of the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep doing what you are doing, but retain talent by pressuring the highest level of management to promote from within instead of hiring externally.

    Atmosphere is complete CHAOS

Team Lead (Current Employee) Saint Petersburg, FL

    Prosflexibility to work from home
dress code is casual (this could also be a con when you see what people wear)

    Conspoint the finger of blame
incompetent leadership in some areas (promoted for length in service vs. skill / ability)
"because we have always done it that way" mentality

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't continue to let knowledge walk because of the 1 year contractor rule - hire them or extend the policy.
Hold people accountable for doing what is right.

    Change is not always good...

Media Consultant (Current Employee) Saint Petersburg, FL

ProsThe people that work here are mainly great, although most of them are now leaving.

    Cons-Absolutely no promotion from within
-Incompetent senior leadership who prefer gossiping instead of doing their jobs
-Invest heavily in systems that do not work and then expect employees to use them while they don't function
-Feedback is said to be encouraged, but by this they mean positive feedback only
-Huge turnover, especially in operations with no plans to backfill and no concern for the amount of work that has been piled on people
-Loud and hectic work environment with no privacy and no peace

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a clue

    – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Technology (Former Employee) Saint Petersburg, FL

    Pros- Respective of work/life balance
    - Great location and faciliites
    - Good Bonus
    - Fair compensation
    - The people

    ConsCheap
Extremely high stress environment (9.5 out of 10)
    Priorities change too frequently
Opportunities for advancement are nil unless you kiss up to Sr. Management
Good people keep leaving with no backfills to their positions, putting the strain on those left standing
    Overworked departments company wide
    No training/development opportunities

Advice to Senior ManagementStart releasing the purse strings and quit being so cheap. Stop offering 3rd world medical benefits. Wake up and realize that the job market is very fertile right now and more people will le

    poor leadership, lack of focus

IT Manager (Current Employee) Saint Petersburg, FL

ProsDecent pay and bonus. Smart people who are willing to work hard.

ConsRate of change is not sustainable and employees are fatigued. Too many people are trying to manage the same work (product owner, business owner, app owner, project manager), resulting in a lack of focus and inability to move forward.

Advice to Senior ManagementStabilize. Stop abandoning things in the middle and then wondering why they break.

    Poor Management -Lack of Trust

Manager (Former Employee) Saint Petersburg, FL

ProsThere are a lot of intelligent, hardworking people at Catalina who truly believe the company could be a terrific place to work-if only...

ConsMediocre managers promote inept friends/brown-nosers rather than people who are leaders. Soon the place will be overrun by the inept, because all of the smart folks leave in disgust, especially client service and IT

Advice to Senior ManagementGet rid of the dead weight and the yes-people and promote people with good ideas

Leading edge, bleeding edge ... fast and fun but somewhat brutal place to work.

Executive Assistant (Current Employee) Saint Petersburg, FL

ProsThe best thing about working at Catalina was the opportunity to work with some of the top talent in the area and industry.

ConsDuring the period when the company was publicly traded, there was high turnover and the pace could conservatively described as frenetic.

Advice to Senior ManagementI hope that since its reversion to the private sector, that management is able to focus on things other than share price.

    Overall, a great place!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe people, work/life balance & work from home opportunities.

ConsPromotions & raises do not exist outside of sales. The new office layout is too open, loud and can be very distracting for the employees in cubicles.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus some efforts on HR!

    Long hours, little pay

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsCreate and maintain wonderful friendships, casual atmosphere (jeans), and management trusts your independence, and allows you to manage your projects.

ConsLow salary, long hours, and recognition for hard work is expected, not appreciated. Work/life balance is poor. Hiring is based on who you know, not what you know.
