I have been working at Catamaran full-time

    Pros

No set standards for Software development so you get to define everything yourself.

    Cons

Need more time to define the processes and as well as develop software. All software is based on legacy systems. Very hard to open up these legacy systems.

    Advice to Management

Stop merging with other companies and start moving forward technically to 21st century.

I have been working at Catamaran full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good work-life balance during low season Management does not bother you, if you do not bother them Everyone is very nice and willing to be a team player Love working from home with the option to go into the office, if I want

    Cons

Management lacks communication - always very busy and almost too busy to read emails or follow back up Work-life balance during busy season can be stressful

    Advice to Management

Manage your people and make time for them

I worked at Catamaran full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There was a time the company was good to me until I became the scapegoat

    Cons

Favoritism was heavy. The executive leadership believed in outside hires and kicked their homegrown talent to the side. God forbid you actually thought different. SR. Management is awful as well. They never work and just push office politics and drama.

    Advice to Management

Don't kick your loyal people to the curb. If you have to term someone who you were responsible for developing, then you should be out the door right behind them because you failed that individual.

I have been working at Catamaran full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not working many weekends, decent benefits, new company, and usually flexible hours.

    Cons

Favoritism among management and employees that report to them, not real way to handle conflicts among coworkers, and hiring has no organization and you can get hired in by knowing a current employee.

    Advice to Management

More professionalism, less trying to compete with each other, and actually take into consideration feedback from coworkers.

I worked at Catamaran full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I really can't think of anything positive from my three years at the SXC / Catamaran quagmire. I was able to get out with my health intact.

    Cons

Senior management was and continues to be ineffective. Sales expeditions for the next big fish took precedence over building a cohesive operating structure. When the dust settled the company was sold to a competitor at a price favorable to UNH. Good luck to the rank and file on holding on to a job.

    Advice to Management

You might want to inform the rank and file that they are OptumRx now and part of UnitedHealthcare Group (UNH). Also let them know that part of your plan to "realize efficiencies" is code for (we are going to lay people off to cut costs and increase profit margin).

    I worked at Catamaran full-time

    Pros

Some very talented people work there. Had some great collaboration experiences.

    Cons

Terrible use (or abuse) of resources. Time and attention given to only the largest clients. Had to FIGHT for resources constantly.

    Advice to Management

Stop worrying about "landing the next big fish" and look at the client and talent you already have. Appreciate what you have as the biggest talent you have is or has left.

    Cons

Supervisor that doesn't know how to do job, hr rep that is VERY hands off, inappropriate conversation about religion.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you know how FMLA works and hit an hr rep that actually interacts with employees.
