I have been working at Catapult Technology as a contractor

    Pros

Catapult will provide you the tools you need to be successful in your career, you just need to use them. If you are a good employee and have proven yourself, they bend over backwards to ensure that you remain one of their employees, even if they have to move you to another contract if the contract you are currently on is going to expire and not be renewed.

    Cons

Contract work is difficult and unfortunately when you are placed in a work area sometimes it is difficult to move up; you may get added responsibilities, however, unlike working in a corporate environment, it can sometimes be hard to progress, regardless of continuing education.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When taking on new contracts, look at your employee database and take into consideration the qualifications that they list; some employees have the qualifications for you to hire them for the new contract from within which will benefit you by having proven dedicated and competent employees on the new contract, which will make you look even better to the new customer, and will also give your employee a chance to expand his experience and feel as if he is truly appreciated and recognized by their employer.

I have been working at Catapult Technology full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Small Company that treats you like family. Relaxing interview, was able to negotiate pay rate.

    Cons

Contracted out, only interface with a few other Catapult employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

A little more interaction with your employees and updates so they can be sure they are on track for a good annual evaluation and pay increase.

I have been working at Catapult Technology full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Knowledgeable and very approachable management. Strong process-based methodology of running contracts and operations. Good pay & benefits. They do what they can to retain employees, even at contract's end.

    Cons

Like most contractors, the company struggles to hold onto employees at end of contract. Also, they outsource their recruiting to a company based in CA. Business Development could use a boost.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

With government contracts getting the way they are and incumbents protesting awards pretty much on a de facto basis, it's probably time for Catapult (and other small to medium sized government contractors) to think of ways to diversify their revenue sources. I am impressed by some other small businesses that are dabbling in cloud based solutions and apps that can be a huge hit not only to government but to commercial customers alike. It would be good to see Catapult commit a portion of its talent to open new potential business lines in this fashion.

    Pros

Easy to contact! they call you back! They have knowledgeable people! They have a few get together parties each year!

    Cons

Not sure, in 5 years with them I can't recall a snag or snafu?

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what your doing! Maybe put up an alumni site for us former peoples.

I worked at Catapult Technology full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Learned a great deal of information. Company supported continuing education and personal growth. Pushed employees to constantly be in the process of studying for a new exam during any down-time.

    Cons

I never got to meet any of the people in Bethesda. The contract I was on was in a different state. The new location in Chambersburg did not have ergonomic workstations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep supporting the employees with education incentives.

I worked at Catapult Technology full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The health insurance benefits were decent.

    Cons

Senior management was aloof and didn't communicate with any of the lower level staff.
    Salary levels are below market
    Disorganization and lack of vision
Lack of employee development (education reimbursement was often denied because of it not being related to the specific job title)
    Constant threat of termination

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communicate with employees and make them feel like they are part something more than just their job. Treat people with respect and as a peer, and not like an expendable asset.

    Pros

Coworkers are easy to get along with; the C-suite is very accessible to employees.

    Cons

No growth opportunities; salaries not at industry standards; very little experience outside of direct technology consulting -- this is not a management consulting firm.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop a proposals department that will shift the business development work off of the day-to-day management consultant teams.
