Pros
Compensation and benefits are good or at least in line with other larger companies.
Cons
Can be a bit of a boys club, especially in the manufacturing facilities. Propmotiona and opportunities are given to people "in" the club and if your not in your opportunities are vaery limited.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep people (even at lower salary grades) at their positions longer so they learn the jobs
Pros
Global company with high values.
Cons
Current rapid growth requires high velocity. Not a place to sit back and relax.
Pros
it provides the best working environment and atmosphere. I am very glad to join the group for the RAMS analysis.
Cons
Most job is specific, so everyone' duty is very clear. If you would like to train yourself in all kinds of ability, you could select others
Advice to Senior Management
They are very nice and open mind. I am very happy and lucky to work under them. So do you
Pros
1. Probably the best pay packages in the Industry.
2. Above average benefits, overtime, allowances.
3. Pretty low-pressure job.
Cons
1. Some managers unprofessional.
2. Lack of vision in senior management.
3. Serious problems in delegation, authority, control of a professional environment. Too much bureaucracy.
4. Poor work ethic. Like someone said, 'Caterpillar Chennai is No. 1 only in thinking it is No. 1'.
5. Top management does not mingle with lower level staff in India. No get together sessions, too little communication.
6. Can't have an interesting conversation with colleagues or managers.
Advice to Senior Management
1. Need to review appointment of all managers based on STAR questions. Many managers may not make the cut, based on their attitudes towards work.
2. Website for reporting unethical behavior must be communicated to all employees in India and China. You will hear a LOT of complaints then.
3. Needs more class less pettiness in leaders.
Pros
The people are genuinely caring of one another here. I have yet to see anyone looking down at anyone else. Even the directors & VPs at Caterpillar aren't shy with conversing and mingling with those working at the ground level. Benefits are industry-leading and the pay is competitive. Work/Life balance is great, and the environment is very low-stress. They go the extra mile here to make sure their employees are happy.
Cons
Moving up in the ladder requires relocation. I am constantly seeing people get promoted, and at the same time, those people are usually relocating to a different facility, and sometimes even a different country. It seems like it would be very difficult to make your way up the ladder if you don't want to relocate.
Pros
Work ethic, professionalism, Work systems and organized workflow. Diverse workforce, atmosphere conducive to productivity and numerous opportunities for learning and growth.
Cons
May get pin holed into doing the same kind of tasks at work and opportunities to learn over a broader base are limited.
Advice to Senior Management
Move with the times in terms of information systems and their application and a more dynamic aggressive approach to tackle changes in the economic atmoshere.
Pros
Good opportunity to move around if you are willing to relocate oversees or to Peoria
Cons
Manage to the headcount at an extreme level. Had the money to fund projects, but could not hire the people to get the work done.
