good benefits and pay compared to other manufacturers in the area, also much better working conditions, the upward mobility seems more likely also

It is a large company that has a union labor force, the union can protect employees who need to be fired, but also help ensure better pay, etc. for everyone else so it's a toss up, not a lot of cons really

I would continue to strive for improvement in everything you do, the recent expansion of product line is a great idea continue profitable acquisitions.

Global Leader, Great Products, best dealer network. Good opportunities for new hires. Very nice Pay & benefits. Competent peer groups

Wavering mindset of Senior Management. Poor people coaching and mentoring. Not enough alignment with goals & work of people. Poor succession planning at lower levels.

The Pay pacakge is competitive and keeps updating with the market. Oppurtuntines for abroad assignments.

Doesn't treat people well unlike their American counter parts. Special preference and respect given to foreing expats. Difference in treatment for American employees and local employees by local HR. Pathetic and unfair promotion process.

5% pay increase for "doing your job" opportunity to work for a global company

vacation does not roll over into next year. Even as an employee who received reviews much higher than average, I still struggled to get promoted.
Advice to Senior Management
Be much more sincere and strategic about recruiting and retaining diverse talent. This also means that employees all employees must embrace diversity of thought, experiences, etc
Pros
Caterpillar offers great compensation, in terms of base salary and bonus compensation which is tied to company performance. You may not find higher compensation anywhere else for a same-level job.
Cons
Peoria is very conservative and not very diverse. The Caterpillar culture is not very welcoming toward outsiders, and the company's non-discrimination policies, while inclusive of LGBT people, is not supported through the offering of same-sex domestic partner benefits. Housing prices in Peoria are disproportionately high compared to similar US cities.
Advice to Senior Management
Follow the company's Core Values in everything you do and say.
Teamwork (include everyone),
Integrity (do what's right, and what you've said you'll do),
Excellence (don't accept less than GREAT just because "it's always been done this way at CAT"),
Commitment (set an example as a leader, not a manager, through your resolve to do what's right for CAT's future in the face of unprecedented foreign competition)

Lots of jobs, pay is good and benefits are okay
Cons
Long hours expected on some jobs - especially accounting.
Advice to Senior Management
Get in touch with what your employees are doing and the roadblocks that prevent them from being successful. BE PROACTIVE instead of allowing issues to develop and then start a 6Sigma project to resolve. Fix it before it becomes an issue.
