Pros
benefits are superior to competition
Cons
varying hours and weekend work required
Pros
Pay is competitive as long as you are protected by the union. Non-unionized staff members have seen pay cuts and have not received raises at all in the past couple years. Benefits are very good. Staff give good care to their patients.
Cons
The directors and managers of certain departments show favoritism and unfair pay practices. Also, when rating management, everyone is lumped together so we are unable to rate a supervisor vs. manager vs. director appropriately. Upper management also has poor communication skills with their employees. They do not set a good example. Business is not run appropriately to attract more doctors for patient care.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employees better! They make or break you. Moral is at its lowest it has ever been at this hospital!
Pros
I like my coworkers. They are very helpful
Cons
there is huge disconnect between upper management and employees. They try n cut support services to the bare bones. As a result it is an unsafe environment to work at. Maybe they need to work side by side with the employees starting with housekeeping to see what it is like for us. The three top wage earners in the very small hospital makes over 1.2 million dollars per year.
Advice to Senior Management
I think its time for upper management to realize the hostile environment they are creating and also take a pay cut. Hospitals that are twice the size the upper management do not get paid that amt
Pros
Good salary and supportive co-workers.
Cons
Fast paced work environment, some unrealistic goals.
Pros
Outstanding benefits package- all medical and dental for employee and family members is covered by Catholic Healthcare West. Arrival time is flexible. Immediate supervisor was intelligent and respectful of her team.
Cons
Workload is unbalanced between staff members, half of department saddled with 75% of work. Continually over worked, director of department was unwilling to change system to efficiently divide work. Six months of investigating why the department scored so low on employee surveys, but not one change made to correct the issues. Work was repetitive and boring, employees strengths and weaknesses were not identified and used to make work more efficient or interesting. Way to much bureaucracy.
Pros
Great staff; good salary; staff very much "there" for the patients; good benefits. San Francisco is a beautiful city. Staff does the best they can with what they're given.
Cons
The management doesn't communicate with the staff; everything is learned by rumor. There is no trust between management and staff. The administration doesn't communicate either and probably doesn't know what is going on. They only know what their managers tell them. They preach patient satisfaction, but they do little to support it. In fact, just the opposite.
Advice to Senior Management
Staffing, staffing, staffing...Getting everyone on board with an idea and giving them input into the process is a much better guarantee for cooperation.
Pros
Work / Life balance
Benefits
Paid Time Off
Some Managers Good to Work With
Cons
Can feel undervalued
Lack of Communication
Pros
work-life balance
network of hospitals is helpful and you are able to share best practices easily
good values and mission as an organization
Cons
extremely lean organization
pay is not competitive
Advice to Senior Management
listen to your employees
Pros
The best reasons to work there is coming in contact with some pretty nice people. Another good reason is the good food in the cafeteria
Cons
The downsides are the amount of irate people who take their frustrations out on the workers. Another downside is how most employees think they're better than others
Advice to Senior Management
Some advice would be to review why employees are working there and if they are actually deserving of their positions
