Pros
Small company, relatively easy to get exposure to C-levels, good benefits
Cons
Small-company mentality, which I think is limiting their growth. Employee input is not always valued. Rely way too much on manual processes.
Advice to Senior Management
Embrace change.
Pros
Compensation is good; flexible hours; friendly work environment for the most part.
Cons
co-op program is NOT geared toward hiring full time employees; Low level managers keep tribal knowledge on their own teams
Advice to Senior Management
It sounds simple: Data and analysis is important, but action is necessary to truly affect change. More action wouldn't hurt.
Pros
Good happy hours and end of the month
Cons
every sales rep is just a number there.. New people floating around office
Advice to Senior Management
quit mircromanaging
Pros
If you are new to the workforce then Cbeyond offers detailed training and coaching on how to sell. The pay is competitive and the commission structure is based on performance. The harder you work, the more you make (sometimes).
Cons
The managers are inexperienced college kids that may have had 2-3 good months at best, or are promoted because a bunch of people quit the company (to become a manager does not require skills at this company).
Advice to Senior Management
Managers do not set an example at the company- there is little distinction between who is the manager and who is the rep.
Limitations with senior management, managers promoted prematurely, disconnect with upper management and sales staff. Management focuses on non-producers, vs producers.
Pros
great sales training, fun atmosphere, DECENT base salary (for an entry level role, somewhat hard to find) and a pretty good product/service
Cons
Micromanaged, NO work-to-life balance for management (I am pretty sure management signs an agreement preventing them from having friends outside of Cbeyond & preventing them from leaving the office before 8pm) and no upward mobility for sales reps outside of a few meaningless title "promotions" and EXTREMELY small base salary increases (that eventually top out around 50k). To sum it up: a great place to "get trained", get some experience and then get a mid-level sales position at another company.
Advice to Senior Management
Hire sales managers....don't just promote sales reps that had a few good months during a time of double digit growth. That just leads to "directors" with a solid 6 months of actual sales experience.
Pros
made alot of money. compensated for doing well. recognized for doing well. feeling of accomolishment
Cons
long hours. hard to balance work/personal life. alot of work. must have thick skin and be able to handle rejection
Pros
Good training program. It is easy to move up in the company and gain experience in sales. Young atmosphere and management
Cons
There is no trust in the company. Management lies to the reps and the product is outdated. However this could have changed.
Pros
atmosphere is great, freedom, benefits
Cons
Stressful job
Can be a Hard product to sell
Lots of competition
Pros
Great entry level opportunity. Really get to learn the complete sales cycle. Excellent stepping stone toward ultimate career and professional goals.
Cons
Very difficult to sell such an antiquated product. Hiring process is not rigid enough, if someone has a pulse they'll most likely get hired.
Advice to Senior Management
Do something about all of the negative press surrounding company. Marketing, marketing, marketing. It is very difficult for sales reps to stand up for company against the awful reviews.
Pros
the training is amazing: if you've never done outside b2b sales before, the training teaches you everything you need to know from walking into a business to closing the deal.
Rapid advancement based on solid, defined benchmarks for performance
Cons
long hours and hard work in the beginning. It's very entrepreneurial, just like starting up a business, you need to build a foundation by cold calling toa network of contacts and referrals that generate leads. Once that happens, leads start rolling in!
Advice to Senior Management
Stay in touch with your branches to see what's working and what's not...these are your front line troops!
