    Pros

Front-end (client) exposure for employees at junior positions; Not possible at other firms; Friendly atmosphere; Ability to talk to Partners directly

    Cons

Extensive traveling; Not much time to spend with family due to fast paced job & extended periods of time on site

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Cedar Management Consulting full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

For starters, I spent nine long and personally fulfilling years at Cedar. The exposure, learning and opportunities provided were invaluable. Cedar provides its employees an opportunity to work across diverse industries and sectors, across its full practice offering and provides opportunity for travel and project work across multiple countries. It also grooms and provides exposure for client interaction at CEO and Board level. All of this truly broadens one's perspective and is immensely enriching and satisfying. Personally, I was provided an opportunity to execute projects across 15 countries over my nine years at Cedar and have gained knowledge, exposure and expertise across diverse sectors such as Energy, Manufacturing, Retail, Real Estate, Education, BFSI and Government to name just a few. Another very strong plus of Cedar is that one cannot ever be part of an organization that is as apolitical as Cedar is. One of the reasons is that employee growth and rewards are based on pure meritocracy in the organization. Also, Cedar has an open and transparent culture with everyone on first name basis and no barriers of communication across hierarchical levels. All in all a super place to work for those with a good mind and a passion for learning.

    Cons

No negatives in particular. Like any other consulting firm, Cedar is not for those seeking a 9-5 job nor for those averse to travel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Many ex-employees have gained tremendously from Cedar and have reached great heights in their professional careers. Forming an alumni association to get them on a common platform would be a great idea.

    Horrendous

I have been working at Cedar Management Consulting full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    1. Quality of Work
    2. Colleagues have been extremely helpful

    Cons

Agree with all the negative reviews mentioned below. The company is all about lies, lies and more lies. Staff across all levels are treated with utter disrespect. The so called stories of growing from Associate to Director level is limited to just 1 person and everyone at Cedar knows that happened. So called claims of having offices around the world and 500 staff are pure plain lies. If the Asian Banker gets to know the facts, the awards will be scrapped!

I have been working at Cedar Management Consulting full-time

    Pros

An environment focused on delivering real value to its clients. People are really committed to delivering their best. This is a place to work if you are:
    1. Out to learn and enjoy learning things in real sense, and not superficially.
    2. Wanting to work on "real projects". These include integrating banks, transforming organizations - both business & technology
    3. Experience what execution and implementation of strategy means
    4. Looking for working with a leadership team that delivers from the front
    5. Truly passionate about the work you do, and enjoy that experience

    Cons

There is a high degree of travel, and client commitments do end up with a high amount of time at work. That's the nature of consulting profession.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get the team to understand how much impact they are creating with the client organizations and the people there.

I have been working at Cedar Management Consulting full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

If you have real talent, and a zeal to demonstrate it, and want a place to express it, its here.

    1. Variety: Real opportunity to work across horizontals (Strategy / Process / HR / Technology). Not limited to doing the same kind of job over and over again, great learning experience.
    2. Diversity: True international experience, and not boxed into one geography like Big-4. Significant amount of travel, across multiple countries. There are live projects across 5 countries at any given point of time (delivered by the India/ME offices)
    3. Multi-Industry: Get to work across industries - no restrictions. Big learning curve. Almost every consultant here gets to work across 3 different industries in a given calendar year. financial services - banking, insurance, industrial, government, telecom, etc.
    4. Real client experience. Its not just a research desk job. Irrespective of levels, all project team members get to directly engage with the clients. The exposure to client senior management dynamics is invaluable.
    5. Easy access to management. You really get noticed. Your good work speaks, and opportunity is to build relationship with Directors and Managers on a day-to-day basis, bringing a huge learning opportunity.

    Cons

The challenges that come with a consulting profession are true for Cedar, as it is for any real consulting work. There is intense travel (which you need to truly embrace & enjoy), there is pressure of delivery - but expected in a place where clients come first, and lastly you got to truly delivery -- cannot survive with mediocre performance for too long.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Keep up the good job.
