    Pros

Strong leadership, and incredibly smart people everywhere. The general feeling around the hospital is that everyone really cares about what they are involved in- be it patient care or research.

    Cons

Not to many cons to think of here... the traffic around the area can get terrible of course, and parking can be a pain.

I have been working at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay is good and the benefits are okay.

    Cons

While trying to get a promotion or transfer to another department is hard because usually they already have someone in mind and post job opportunities because they have to - to satisfy the legal requirements of hiring. There is still favoritism it's all about who you know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should take into consider that because they believe in the fair practice of others and the mission statement, but the management underneath does not; they say one thing and do another.

I have been working at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center full-time

    Pros

Fantastic pay (not the BEST, but close)
    Amazing Benefits
    Senior Leadership is pretty good
The healthcare staff are all absolutely great
    Pretty decent upward momentum

    Cons

    Middle management is lackluster
    Poor communication from middle management
Invisible expectations that you're held to
No new employee training (for my department)
    Poor support documentation
Following the direction and advice of your supervisor can land you in hot water

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have CLEAR expectations and communication (stop the buzzword landslide)
    Support those you manage better
The issue is not with senior management, it's middle management that's the problem

I worked at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Loved working here. I worked in the Radiology department with Dr. Alan Waxman, who was one of the best bosses you could ask for. I worked as a Research Associate, unpaid and still loved coming into work every day.

    Cons

Can't really think of any cons. If you are a pre-med, you couldn't do better than gaining some experience here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Offer more paid internship positions. God knows they have the money to do so.

I worked at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Should you find yourself hired, you can expect reasonable salaries. Tenured employees are treated well if you remain on the good side of supervisors.

    Cons

Often, employees are weighted down with too much to do and little time to do it -- bottom line, unreasonable expectations. The laughable part is that most supervisors could never finish the work themselves if they had to work. Most departments operate as political machines -- they don't care about the employee, they care only about self-promotion. There is no loyalty, no sense of family.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your staff can be your greatest asset if you treat them with respect and set reasonable expectations. New ideas may be great, but you need to make a reasonable assessment if these new ideas are manageable. All supervisors should be able to perform as well as their subordinates, if not better. Upper management must be fully capable of "working the line" alongside their staff.
