Fast moving telco with good potential to be No. 1

    Vice President (Former Employee)
    Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

ProsWith the fast pace in technology, this Company is agile enough to cope with the current demands of the users. Attractive bonus packages for staffs. Able to travel overseas a lot. Friendly staffs and management.

ConsTeamwork still lacking. Some Heads still work in silos. Sometimes decision making can be very slow.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not re-org to often. Every time there is a re-org there will be confusion among the vendors and internal people. Decision making will be chaotic. Other telco competitors will take over the market during confusion period.

    Exciting

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

ProsManagers at Celcom are generally very supportive and understanding. Stories of good managers get passed on easily, and there are usually more good ones than bad's

ConsAt the headquarter, choices of food are limited, but there is little that can be done on this issue.

Advice to Senior ManagementIT support in terms of macros and standard powerpoint format across laptops/desktops should be introduced. Often, 50% of the time in making slides are wasted on ensuring a slide looks "clean and neat", but this can be easily resolved by using macros and selecting default colours

    – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Good place to learn

    Analyst (Current Employee)
    Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia)

ProsGood benefit (medical, free phone, waived phone and internet bills), big bonus, fast moving company, quite good business driven analytics, happy environment and good work-life balanced.

ConsDon't have a good promotional scheme, slow career growth, favoritism (for some bosses), does not appreciate loyal staff and prefer to hire outside talent rather than upgrading the internal talents.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease appreciate the loyal staff, they've been working for so many years but stuck in one position level for so many years.

A good place for making friends...nothing more...

    Executive (Current Employee)

ProsCompetitive bonus, great co-workers, friendly working environment

ConsPoor career progression, no career roadmapping, too many 'old timers' that hamper productivity and contribution. Office politics & red-tape akin to a government office.Takes forever to get things done. Innovation is concerningly lacking. Limited job scope with very few opportunities to venture outside the status quo. Internal transfers can be bogged down with alot of red-tape

Advice to Senior ManagementBetter prospects of career advancement regardless of race. development programmes aplenty however many of those are not relevant.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
