I worked at Celerion full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

You learn a lot but limited to the early phase clinical research and harder to expand into the job market from there.
Good people, hard working, fast paced.

    Cons

Work-life balance is discussed but not really well supported. Limited opportunities for advancement once you are in middle management. VERY sub-par benefits and pay compared to other CROs. Bonuses are only at director level or above so it is a hard sell to meet all your targets if you don't share in the profit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Bring up salaries in line with market. Train your people (a budget for training would be a good start) and send them to industry meetings, have career plans for them.

I worked at Celerion full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Job security. As log as you show up (most of the time), you've got a job. HR is really afraid of legal action, so you're safe once you've made it past the probationary period.

    Cons

Management does not manage. Different standards for different people. Handful of entry level employees are responsible for majority of work, and are not rewarded for those efforts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management ought to take a ground level approach to management, to individual site management, entry management, and entry admin staff.

I have been working at Celerion part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

add experience (clinical if needed) to your resume

    Cons

    low pay
    difficulty to advance
not a place to go if you think outside the box and want to grow career wise. DEAD END JOB.
    lacks luster or motivational tools
feeling like your in a prison along with study participants

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is nothing management can do when you are getting paid almost minimum wage ($11.50/hr) but have a lot of expectation and responsibility placed on you. Job requires no college degree, your basically just a factory worker, a factory aimed at human testing for early stage pharmaceuticals. Everyone that works there hates it, I feel bad for them, they have no other options.

Great work/life balance, very friendly people, exposure opprotunities to various aras of drug development industry

I have been working at Celerion full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

This is a CRO, so within Clinical Pharmacolpgy Sciences (CPS) group there are lots of opporunities to work with differnt small or large pharma or biotech. Get lots of exposure to innovative trial designs across differnt therapeutic areas. Group is split into 4 cross-functional teams and some focus on a few core therapeutic areas while others on specific market segment (i.e. small biotech). Staff is very friendly, and there are telecommuting opporunities, even at higher management level (i.e. Director).

    Cons

Advancement opportunities are limited and current stanrting salaries tend to be low. Mangement prefers to hire people with less experience for less money and train them on the job. Because of location of main office in NE, there are no other opportunities in the area, so people tend to stay for decades, and management has attitude that most employees are "low risk for leaving". Once classified as such, the only opportunity for advancement is through showing proof of a better job offer somewhere else.

Current Employee - Bioanalytical Associate Analyst in Lincoln, NE

I have been working at Celerion full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    --Flexible work schedule
    --Relaxed atmosphere
--Not much supervision (if you consider that to be a pro)

    Cons

    --Hard work is not rewarded
--Abuse of the "variable" employee position
--Upper management pretends to care, but they don't
    --Very poor morale among workers
--Care more about buying more equipment than promoting "variable" workers to full-time
    --Micromanagement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

This work environment really does not promote growth from within the company. Workers are not supervised, so promotions are based off of company politics. Managers do not have their workers' backs to recommend them for promotion. Hard work is not rewarded because if they can get you to go the extra mile for free, they will gladly take it. The hard workers are not promoted, the people who are great at BS-ing are.

    Pros

If you play the politics games right, the world is your oyster there.

    Cons

The people at the bottom are looked down on and because of that benefits are some of the worst in the industry. Upper leadership walks around with a chip on their shoulder looking down on the rest of the employees from their imaginary home up high on the leadership mountain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change your company culture to be more positive and higher some real leaders and talent over all.
